Title: 8D agm Batteries
Post by: muldoonman on August 03, 2012, 05:39:09 AM
Have problems with batteries in coach. Installed 6 wet start batteries last summer and have one or two that has went south. Chargers (dual) were putting out too much juice and couldn't turn amps down and boiled two dry. Took Whisperquiet inverter out and Chargers that was installed in 1992 and Installed Magnum 2500 watt inverter/charger and going to install 3 agm's when they hit here Monday. What are some of the prices you've paid for your agm's and are some better than others?

LifeLine just had a price increase expect to pay close to 800 bucks each for the fresh stock 8D Lifelines I am sure a good American made AGM's are going to be close in price the batteries made in China,Mexico and others places who knows

Even though Lifeline are expensive, they are made right here in the L.A. area.  I've had good luck with my 2-8D AGM's.  Going to use 4 of the L16's for a total of 800amp/hours @ 12vdc.  Not cheap, but then again-I backed myself into a corner forcing myself to use AGM's since the batteries are actually inside the living area.  Good Luck, TomC

I live in the Kansas City metro area. I just bought six new 8D AGM's for $405 each. These are the Deka brand. Email for vendor info if you're interested.

Just paypaled out (3) 8d AGM's  SLF 12250 for $765 shipped. We will see how they work at that price. These folks put these in marine applications in the Gulf Coast area.

Yeah Cliff, that's what I thought. Shaver Marine (Josh) down in Clearlake Tx. Is where I bought them. If they work out I will let you all know. You can't beat there price for sure. I didn't like the wet ones anyway. Always a sulfuric smell when you opened bay. Chargers kept um hot with no adjustment on chargers. They were start batteries also which wasn't the way to go.
