Title: FLEET PRICING ON PARTS
Post by: boxcarOkie on July 26, 2012, 06:46:48 AM
I have some news to share with all you bus guys, you do-it-yourself wanna-be overachievers.  At this time it is important to share with you, I have no vested interest in this, and I don't make anything off of it. I am just doping you up on what I consider a good deal.

A couple of months ago, I met some people (Prevost Owners) who have recently instituted a new policy on their website where you get a very good discount on parts and supplies that we all use at NAPA stores all over the United States.  Today it was announced as a new benefit for registered members of Prevost Community which you can find here:http://prevostcommunity.com/index.asp (http://prevostcommunity.com/index.asp)

If you wrench your own stuff, which the majority of you here do, this could save you some serious bucks.  Now here is the sweet spot ... the entire thing is "FREE."  Which should appeal to the majority of bus owners that I know, not just Prevost people.

All members (through the link at the top of the main forum page) can fill out an application which will allow the member to get a PARTS DISCOUNT card entitling the member to fleet pricing on their purchases ... through all participating NAPA stores.

(Some NAPA stores may not participate)

When filling out the application the company name is to be "Prevost Community."  Provide your own personal contact information because the address will be where the card(s) are sent and your email address is where you will be notified and allow temporary access to the program until you get the cards..

This is an excellent program made available to Prevost Community REGISTERED  MEMBERS by NAPA, with 6,100 stores throughout the United States.  NAPA KNOWS YOU HAVE A CHOICE IN PARTS AND THIS FLEET PROGRAM WILL GIVE YOU DISCOUNTED PRICES ON MANY PARTS FOR YOUR BUS.

Here is how it works.

Once you log in the NAPA button appears at the top of the forum. press it and the discount registration form appears. For your card fill out the form and submit it. Use "Prevost Community" as the company name. Your mailing address is where the card gets sent. At participating stores the card gets you fleet pricing on items used in commercial vehicles such as the belts and oil filters we use along with fuel filters, air bags, brake parts, etc. It's a good deal.

Bottom line:  The PC site is free and the fleet pricing card is a huge benefit for people that do their own work and buy their own parts.  Another thing or benefit for you is that you do not have to be a Prevost owner to take advantage of it.

This is a good deal I hope you take advantage of it.  It is a simple as clicking a button and will save you some serious cash in the end.  If you have any questions about it, they have a General Topics or Disscussion thread and I am sure they would answer any questions or inquiries you might have.

Check it out.

Don,don't get to excited about the Napa deal it's the same as the AAA deal Napa has a list price and a selling price it amounts to 10% off the selling price no where close to the 30 to 40% I get at my Napa store here.

Our store here is not going to honor the Prevost deal they are only doing the AAA Steve said he was going try and tell people that they could use only one not the Prevost and the AAA card combined for 20% off and that would happen

Needles being a railroad town and you being a railroader drive to Needles they take care of you railroad guys a true 30% off the selling price lol

I tried to get the EI involed in the NAPA discounts several years ago and it went into file 13 maybe I'll bring it up to Sonnie again lol

Fwiw FMCA has a good deal on tires only problem it is for Michlen Tires only but you can save some bucks big bucks too

good luck

I have to imagine a true fleet discount would be more than 10%, but I'll take anything I can get.  I do buy some stuff at NAPA, but usually only as a last resort, or I need it right now.  I got a price for some Trucklite LED lights and the price was more than double what Ryder Fleet Supply wanted.  I told them what Ryder was selling them for and he said that was less than their cost.  I asked them for a price on an electric brake assembly for my trailer recently and the price was double what the trailer place wanted.

I did buy some trailer brake drums from NAPA two years ago and the price was incredible.  The NAPA store didn't get them from the NAPA warehouse, but they picked them up from another distributor locally.

If anyone is wondering about the response from NAPA on the Fleet Discount card mine arrived in the mail today.  Just to be sure everyone who participates in the program understand its scope let me share some understanding I came across from a NAPA representative.

Not all NAPA products or parts will be covered by the program. Not all NAPA stores are able to participate. Independently owned NAPA stores may choose to not participate, but NAPA owned stores will.

In other words ... It would behoove you to check first to be sure your favorite store does participate.

The cards have specific instructions for the counter man to follow so you can get your discounts so even if the store does participate, the counter man has to follow the procedures.

The bulk of the parts and materials covered will be heavy duty parts common to large commercial vehicles. (Oil filters and misc for your pickup is most likely not going to qualify)  You can expect deep discounts on parts ranging from air filters to oil filters to belts to coolant meeting our required specs to brake chambers to air bags.

As I find out more, I will post it.

My card arrived today.  I wonder if it applies to tools?  I do need to get some heavy duty antifreeze soon that normally runs $20 a gallon.  We'll see what happens with the card.

There are no company owned Napa stores in my area how is one going about finding one IMO company owned Napa stores are going to be few if any in a rural area maybe in the shopping malls.

Most Napa's are a mom and pop store you guys please post your prices,Belfert I don't about your dealer but I can buy DD antifreeze for less than 14 bucks a gal

They do give 35% fleet discount on the Napa brand tools nothing on the Craftman brand some Napa's are starting to sell now even with 35% off they are about the same price as a Mac or Snap/On most are American made

I looked and looked for the best deal on extended life diesel antifreeze a year or two ago.  NAPA had the best price I could find.  I seem to recall I even called the local DD dealer.

Clifford, I wouldn't doubt you get a discount from your DD dealer considering all the parts you buy.  You probably buy more in a month or two than I have bought from the DD dealer in my entire life.

Just catch the sales Brian every DD dealer will have one on antifreeze, oil and the filters but most DD dealers sell the antifreeze at their cost like a come on in a super market

I have never saw a DD dealer charge that much for antifreeze but then we don't get cold here either and I hang out along the southern borders also MN is not the place for me in Jan lol

Antifreeze sales tend to be in the fall and I do most of my bus work in the summer.  I don't always know in the fall if I will need antifreeze for the next summer.  Air dryers and air dryer cartridges are usually on sale in teh fall too to prep for winter.

I got my card the other day and had my first opportunity to use it today.  I was buying some heavy duty antifreeze for my bus, but the card didn't get me a discount.  I was happy with the price anyhow as it was a lot less than I paid last year.

The guy at the counter had never seen the card yet.  He wasn't sure what to do, but he followed the instructions on the back of the card.  NAPA had a brochure about the AITA program right on the counter.

Yep all the NAPA card is the American Independent Truckers Association card  (AITA) sorry guys there is not going to huge saving it will be same as AAA 10% at Napa one good thing is it does not cost, the card is just a way to track your buying just like the groceries stores mine is already in the trash can

good luck

Way to solve the grocery tracking program at safeway is to pay cash and use your deceased cousin's safeway card... ;D

Why would it matter if NAPA is tracking your purchases?  This is quite a bit different than a grocery store.  I'm not sure the card is even customized for each person.  The cards says it is issued to Prevost Community.  The instructions on the back of the card just give a generic AITA account n umber for NAPA employees to use.

I'll give it another try or two to see if I get a discount before I give up on it.  Even if it is only 10% it at least pays the tax.

So when you filled out the application you gave no contact information Brian is that what you are saying ? you can get a individual card with the same discount it does not have to be a group card an

I just don't believe you will ever see the deep discounts and if you do it will be off list price not their selling price

I always hold my AAA card till the end I never give it up front it po's some campground mangers when they have to give you 10% off

FMCA has truly the best deal out and it is on tires you get some deep cuts off the retail price through FMCA
