Title: Heavy Duty Trailer Hitch - photo
Post by: Kwajdiver on July 25, 2012, 06:57:39 PM
A while back, someone was asking about a heavy duty trailer hitch.
Here is a photo of the one on my bus. This hitch was used to pull a 28 ft enclosed trailer with a race car.

This bus is for sale.   ;D

That looks like some serious steel.  What is it attached to?  I assume not the engine cradle with that much weight.

I like the full C rail frame in the back of my bus that allowed me to attach a hitch with ease.

The bus is in Lakeland, Florida, me, I'm in the Marshall Island, 7000 miles away.

Sorry,   :(

Two inches of steel going into a 1/8 or so tube with one thru bolt. Not as strong as you think. Weak point (besides whatever it is attached to) is the light tube sleeve and the shear on the bolt. The 2" steel is over kill for the strength of the receiver. Highest stress in under braking ( please have trailer brakes!)
