Title: Where can I get one
Post by: Rick 74 MC-8 on July 21, 2012, 07:36:14 PM
This is a circuit breaker on my Kohler 12.5 genset with a Perkins 4-108. My bus is a 74 and converted in 75. Genset is that same vintage. It will not reset.  I can't find anything close. Any help please ?

I have looked at Granger and everywhere else I know. Not sure what its called makes it harder to search. It trips the safety shut down for over heat or low oil psi. The small control wires are hot and ground when not running but switch is on. When running the ground drops if no faults are present.

Have you tried Kohler or a place that services Kohler?  The part is liekly obsolete from Kohler, but they might at least have a proper name for the part to get you in the right direction.

I plan to try that tomorrow. I did find a post on Wonderlodge forum calling it a reset switch but no clue where to get one I was hoping to get the done soon. We are going to Oshkosh next weekend and its all dry camping. I could run with it bypassed but I would rather not. I have try ed cube relays but it chatters when switch is on and not running. I may have to do that at least the safety's are still working that way.

Sorry, I thought you met the double pole 220V circuit breaker for the generator.

Try these guys, they deal with obsolete stuff and may be able to help.

I think the CH on the back is Cutler-Hammer and the 10-1015-4 matches their numbering scheme.

Thank you Steve
I can't find it there but knowing what C-H stands for maybe I can find the specs

That part maybe out there somewhere but I sure can't find it.
I ordered a delayed on relay from granger I believe it will accomplish the same thing

Rick, the CH stands for Cutler Hammer, the original manufacturer.

What you're looking for is simply a field circuit breaker (rated about 10 Amps) and should be available from Kohler. If it's tripping is a sign that you might have a problem with the back end of the generator, moisture, a breakdown in insulation..or a similar problem.

It might even be similar problem to what I found after I bought my bus from Al.
A bad fuel solenoid relay that went bad after he replaced the 10 amp fuse with a 50 amp fuse. My problem cost me  $15 for a burnt up relay.

Best of luck.  NCbob

Thanks Bob
I replaced it with a delay relay. Works perfect. The _
Old part was just warn out and Kohler or any of their dealers up here were  no help. Now I set the delay and it trips after that time for startup and instant after running. Thats better than original design
