If it weighs less than 150 pounds UPS or Fedex ground might be able to ship it. The shipper would probably need to build a crate as something that heavy would probably not survive in a cardboard box.
hi brian its about 60 lbs and less then 3 ft long
That should be shippable. I just received 2 big block chevy cylinder heads via ups; they are about 30" long and 80lbs each. I've also shipped a roadrace transmission that weighed 108lbs plus crating; the UPS driver scowled at me that day.
You're going to need a really good box to handle 60 pounds, but UPS or Fedex ground can easily handle 60 pounds. The best packing material would be the two part foam that expands to completely surround everything. I have received plenty of shipments in the 40 to 60 pound range that barely survived because they used a plain single layer cardboard box with inadequate packing material.
i would use fedex. i live in country near salem ore, dont know any bend bus guys .. and fedex will pick up when i call them and charge my cc business acct.
if its boxed and 60 lbs they should just do that for you.
thanks guys for all the imfo trying to work something out the owner is 81 yrs old and the wife says
the scooter has to go john
John, If you can get it down to me in bakersfield, I will take it to the get together at Bk's in Aug. There may be some one there that can take it to where you want it. That is after I try it out to see how it runs.LOL
Let me know
Don
It sounds like you have somewhat of a collectable item AND in all honesty, I would call a company who builds shipping crates and have the come by and build one to hold this item.
It may sound like overkill, but you can rest easy knowing it will arrive in one piece and not damaged.
I think Fedx and UPS will ship up to 6' foot lengths, so your crate would fit within limits and it would be protected.
Good Luck!
John
If Don gets it. I will pick it up at BKS and bring it the rest of the way. Then I will put the fender for the scooter with it and bring it closer.
May have to try it out also.
uncle ned

P.S. do we get a prize for falling off it and skinning our knees. LOL
Don I will load up my little Honda mini bike. We can have mini races at BK's.
Wonder if there is a good field around there.

I suspect you'll find it won't be that much more expensive to just ship it all the way to Florida versus shipping it to California. If you use Fedex be sure to use their ground service as any other Fedex service will be quite costly.
Collectible huh how much are they worth my wife has 3 of those things she is the only woman of her age I know of that has gas powered skate board
I have a shop full of her dumb scooters I can relate to his wife lol watch the little tires they will get you in trouble doesn't take much of pot hole to throw you I saw it happen to her a couple of times
Clifford, I will take a couple of them off your hands. Do they run. Ned there is the fair grounds about a 1/2 block away we could set up a road course and have a good time gettin all skinned up. LOL
Don
Come get one Don she has a couple of gas powered also that would work better for you a couple have the 49cc gas engine one has the little tires and one 12 inch which in IO are better I will ride the ones with the 12 inch tires and electric start lol
Clifford, Why don't you load up and come back to BK's with us. Might have a good time.
Don
