Title: Still looking for a coach - help?
Post by: afm_man on July 13, 2012, 09:33:56 PM
So I have been mingling around these boards for about a year now and still not have been able to find a coach.  This board has been great in helping out.  People have offered to view coaches and provide plenty of advice. I regret not being able to close a fantastic deal on a Florida coach because of insurance issues but now we have that figured out. I apologize to Blue Goose because he made me the best offer I could ask for.

What we are looking for is a coach that sleeps at least 7.  I know that means that we are going to most likely need an entertainer and I am OK with that even if we have to do some work to put in a shower, hot water, larger holding tanks, etc.  Our budget is not spectacular (around 20K - cash) but if anyone knows of a coach, by all means let me know.

I have tried a number of places and CL has been a ball of wonder.  I have run into people that absolutely refused to sell a coach because we wanted to modify it to sleep more (seriously was told up front that they did not want to sell to a family with kids).  Have also run into people that wanted a full money transfer before even showing the coach (give me a break).

Anyhow, I figure it is time to ask around again and if anyone has any options in our price range, please PM or direct us to something we might have missed.  I am in west TX, but no problem flying to pick something up.

Thanks,

BW

BW,

I just remembered a couple of coaches out here in AZ I saw advertized, maybe one of these might work out for you.

ABart, thanks.  I actually talked to that seller about a week ago. Nice guy that runs a blue-grass band.  It seems to have pretty serious rust issues with some of the structure in the bays completely rusted through.  Kind of gets one wondering what things are hidden in places where you cant see.

No such thing as hidden rust on a Eagle you can see it all lol but it is easy to repair bay repairs are simple heck they will run with the bays completely gone and you can do those as you go

Not all Eagles have rust I have a 1974 Eagle that spent it's entire life in the dry country not 1 rust spot or signs of any repairs ever done for rust fwiw

good luck

BW -

Good luck on your search, something will turn up eventually, especially since the market for bus conversions is in the toilet right now.

Nashville is the current "hub" of entertainer leasing activity, since most are based out of that area.  With seven, modifying a 9 or 12 bunk entertainer may just be the ticket for you.

Oh, just to let you know, there's a long-time member/poster on all the major bus bulletin boards that goes by the internet handle of "Buswarrior."  Great guy, with lots of practical and industry knowledge, often cuts thru the crap to get to the heart of the subject.  Because of his "seniority," most folk who've been around awhile and see "BW" in a post are going to think of him, not you.  Thus, as a suggestion to minimize confusion, perhaps a first name might avoid same?  (Editing your profile above to add your name and home city/state would help, too, in more ways than one.)

FWIW & HTH. . .

Fair enough.  Can't find the edit tab but name is Brandon.  I get in the habit of just using initialy because I teach and don't use my first name and hate using Mr. (or whatever) as a signature.

In Lubbock, TX.  I'll try to modify the signature.

AFM stand for Atomic Force Microscopy - what I teach.

Thanks to all that have replied and given some great leads!  We are driving to Florida next month and I was hoping to have something before, but a few coaches are going to be right on our route to view and hopefully pick up on the way back.

Always room for another BW!

Welcome to the madness!

The audience may just have to refer to the program periodically to keep the characters straight...

happy coaching!

Brandon, there is a pretty good looking Eagle entertainer bus here:

http://www.eaglesinternational.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2957 (http://www.eaglesinternational.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2957)

I posted the "ad" for him and just talked to the owner a few minutes ago.  He is looking to see if he has the paperwork on the engine and transmission rebuild.  He is thinking about reducing the price a bit, but that will hinge on the engine/transmission documentation.

Seems like a pretty good buy to me.

If your interested in an MCI that is 102w and will never rust, you can check out this one.

 www.my69mci-6.blogspot.com

It is all stainless steel and the interior is solid African Teak. This is a 172,000 build and the price is now down to 39,000 firm. You could never build one of this quality for that. I was going to post in the magazine, but it no longer exist.

Good luck with finding a bus! Now is a good time.
