Title: New bus enthusiast from Phoenix Arizona
Post by: LowTide on July 13, 2012, 07:23:44 AM
I did not see a category for introduction, so I hope it will be ok to post my introduction in this section.
As you already know I am new to this forum and look forward to learning as much as we can from the bus/coach veterans here.  We are located in Phoenix Arizona where we have had our graphics/sign company for the past 20 + years. I have lied in Phoenix since 1959 and plan on flying the coup once we find the coach/bus that will fit into our plans.

My DW and my self are interested in purchasing a coach and have plans on full timing in the near future. We have looked at 4104's, 4106's and couple of MCI's and plan on looking at quite a few more as suggested by others before we make any decision.

While we really like the 4104 and 4106. The 4106 with the automatic transmission is definitely something we are interested in, especially if my DW will be driving sometime. We are not opposed to the manual transmission of the 4104, even though it can be a pain in heavy traffic but would prefer an automatic transmission.

In our search for a coach/bus we found ourselves really attracted to the MCI's when it comes to a coach that would fit our needs for full timing. While we do like the MCI 40 footers, we are also a bit interested in the early model MCI5A 35 footer and have seen a couple early model MCI7's (on the net) that we would like to look at in person, but they are across the country, so once we find one a bit closer to home we will make it a point to go take a look and see how we like those.

All the best

Leaving the heat is one thing I am looking forward to, even if it means going up north for a few months. I swear, I about died the other day while we were in the field...spent 12 hours trying the get a few LED reader boards installed on a building and wouldn't you know it, everything when wrong...hence the 12 hour day....LOL

Glad you got my PM, will look for your call.

The winter is a good time visit, but summers seem to be getting hotter each year. Usually we are flooded with snow birds in the winter and when summer starts to arrive, they high tail it to cooler country.

Mike -

Welcome - the illness has set in.  Incurable, but can be lived with.  More fun and frivolity can also be found at www.busnut.com (http://www.busnut.com) in addition to this craziness!

Please edit your profile by clicking on the link above to include a signature with your name and at least your home city/state.  You can add your bus make/model later.  By having that info, we can often direct you to services in your area - no sense sending you to NJ if you're in AZ, right?  Also, some folk really prefer posting to a real name, not an internet handle.

Welcome aboard!

FWIW & HTH. . .

Welcome Lowtide!

Just this time last year we acquired our 4106 after a nationwide hunt!  The 4104, 4106 and MCI5 where tops on our list - as we definitely wanted a 35' coach. We actually found ours not too far from you in Yuma.  Have you run across Charlie there in Phoenix?  He's the head of the Western GM club, and is a great source of information. If you've not, get in touch - and we'll be happy to make an introduction.

It's been an awesome year on the road in our 4106, and hope to see you out on the road with us soon!

By the way, our blog post we made about our search modality might (or might not) be helpful for you in your own hunt:

I will be sure to ad my personal info to my profile. Now that you mentioned it, I will be sure to do that over at Busnut, as I am already registered there too.

Thanks for reminding me

All the best

Cherie,

I spoke with Charlie a while back and still have his contact info in our little book ;)

We read through your blog when we first started looking for buses and found allot of good information that has helped us with our search.
We had even considered the Gambler at one point, just like you folks did and we did speak with the owner about her. I use that image of the Gambler for my desktop background until we get our coach or if we purchase the gambler, we can leave the image....LOL. The gambler is a real sweet coach, no doubt!
I just heard from Tom and will be talking to my DW this evening ;)

All the best
Mike

Just before we left Yuma to go north for the summer,  ;D  there was a MCI, i think it was a 2, maybe a 4?, for sale on a lot on the S. Frontage road just to the west of the Walmart.  Don't remember the price.

Ed, thanks for the tip.

I have a friend that lives down there and will give him a call. We kind of have our eye on one and will have to see how it works out.
