Title: 6v 92 stop valve
Post by: David Anderson on July 09, 2012, 02:22:27 PM
My stop valve leaks.  I tried cleaning the inside and leaks worse.  Should I replace the whole assembly or just the rubber inside?  Where can I get the part/parts?

David if the shaft is worn replace the unit it if not rebuild it Luke has the kit or John at Bus Services sell a nice looking rebuilt unit for around 50 bucks if you rebuild make sure the hole on the flange (where the rod goes through) is clean

good luck

How much is a new unit?  This is OEM and 27 years old.  I think I replaced the plunger a couple of years ago, so it may be time for a whole new assembly.

I checked for you at WW Williams the price of brass is the same as gold better go to Ebay lol 135.00 for a new one the all in one  unit that uses no skinner valve is less than 100 bucks go figure

I took it apart again and cleaned it with solvent and now it doesn't leak.  Problem solved.
Go figure ???

Interesting......mine has been sticking the last couple of days, also.

I just finished disassembling it, cleaning it, a dose of air tool oil, reassembled and it works as good as new!

Those have a vent hole in face cover the way it supposed to work is they vent to push the rod out without a restriction to a certain point then the vent is supposed to seal off when the plunger is extended fully.

I never liked the setup using a skinner valve and cylinder waste of money and always a problem

The all in one unit is the way to go you need a air supply and a electrical supply no skinner valve or separate cylinder involved to cause problems

good luck
