Title: Another very tragic bus accident in Mexico
Post by: Mex-Busnut on June 25, 2012, 08:46:10 AM
Yesterday a bus loaded with political campaign workers missed taking a curve on a mountain highway, and went over a cliff in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, falling over 100 meters (over 300 feet) into the canyon below. 28 people died, and 21 were seriously injured. (It appears that it was overloaded.) This is the third fatal bus accident in Mexico in the last 30 days.

It appears to be a miracle that any survived. Scenes like that make me ache for the families of those who were on board. It also makes me even more careful when I am driving, even on our "safe" highways.

Thank you for sharing. Many of us will be praying for those who did survive, and for the families of those who lost their loves.

I spent some time in Guatemala a couple of years ago with my family.  I don't think I ever saw a bus that wasn't overloaded!  I was one of the few "gringos" that rode on many "chicken busses", and knew if there was any sort of mechanical problem--it was the end.

Scary --yes!  BUT--Their safety record is amazingly good.

The news just updated the story. This was an inner city bus, designed for 28 passengers, not meant to be on the highways, and extremely overloaded. So senseless and sad!
