Title: Nitrites
Post by: opus on May 18, 2012, 07:48:05 AM
I checked my coolant and the nitrites are marginally high.  It could be because of hard water as well.  Can you lower them somehow?  Should I drain the whole thing?  Advice?

What are you calling high ? antifreeze and the Sca's from Cummins  both contain Borate and Nitrate probably a over load  from the SCA's or filter

On the Wix strips they have Nitrites, Percent glycol and Freeze point.  Nitrites are close to 4000 ppm.  Probably from the filter I put on last time, not knowing any better.

Use only distilled water in your radiator and batteries.
