Had a air leak from the governor on the air compressor. Simple change right? Well one of the bolts was rusted tight into the governor itself. Things would have been fine if I would have left both bolts in, but it must have bound up on the compressor housing. So I broke the ear off of the compressor casting. So now the hunt for a new compressor. I have one on a parts engine, but it is air cooled, the one I just took off is watercooled. Some days are just not as good as others. Wilbur
Some days, it's better to break out the smoke wrench sooner than later ...
Some days it is awesome to have this kind of problem at home, and not on the highway in the middle of nowhere.
;D
We have had good luck with silver solder on cast. When done correctly is very durable. Have repaired the cast iron clutch pieces on a antique steam engine under much more stress than this would be. Bob.
Smoke wrench being a torch? Love that term if so lol. There is a bus being parted out on this club somewhere I read about this week. Any chance it might have what you need?

Wilbur, what drgree tilt do you need on the compressor is it a 600 if so I have one I removed and replaced with 700 came off a 8v92 in a Prevost it should be the same tilt I can ship it
The compressors are available and still made. Just replace it-they're not that expensive. Good Luck, TomC
Just an update, after taking a good at the compressor I decided to drill and re-tap the air outlet hole. So I will install a fitting in it and mount the Governor in a remote location. Thanks to all of you that offered advice and/or help. Good Busin' Wilbur
