Well I find myself using my bus in remote fields, near beaches, backwoods, etc.. all places I really would like to have nice fire but do not want to leave my ashes all over the place..or not a goo dplace ot have a fire on the ground..
so here is what I came up with..
I tore the old wash machine apart and used the inner drum Then cut off the weighted top ring, welded some legs to the bottom, welded some rolled expanded metal to inside bottom and then a flat plate on top of that.. so air can come in from the bottom to help keep the fire going..
First fire lasted 2 hrs without me touching it and it even started to drizzle on it.. not bad for a small little fire..
next is to plasma some cool words around the sides :)

What about a 2X2 stub on the side so (once it's cool and you've dumped ashes out), you can socket it into your trailer hitch for transporting it?
The BLM does not allow fires on the ground in the Black Rock desert so lots of people use washing machine drums, but not usually quite so fancy. (The ground melts into a glass like substance with heat.) Our group has custom fire pit with our group name laser etched into the side of the pit. A group member made it when he worked at a metal fab shop.
Cool Fire Pit!!
