5.9 cummins ward bus
219k
So had some ruff idling when cold however today it's 88 degrees and upon startup still had some white smoke and ruff idle till motor hit 110... Not long but should I be concerned or should I just change the oil and hope for the best? Or something like a stuck injector ? Used to old 2 strokes...but know nothing about 4 strokes YET!

Eric,
As far as your 5.9 goes... I think you have a problem with your grid heater. That is a common problem. It probably does it on a cold start and not the rest of the day? It is a cheap and easy fix.

Looks like someone suggested a cause already! (in your other thread!)
;D BK ;D
I didn't realize it applied to warm days too :)
Eric,
There are a multiple of things that could cause your 5.9 to run rough on start up and smoke a little white. The grid heater is one spot to check. How long did your bus sit without running? If it sat for a long period of time, I would make sure you have good clean fuel in the tank. Then I would change your fuel filter and add some conditioner to your fuel. I prefer Stanadyne, but you could use other brands. See what that does first.
You could also have a weak lift pump. If you have a fuel pressure gauge, your fuel pressure should be around 25 to 30 PSI before the injector pump. That is if you have a 12 valve Cummins, which I'm sure you do.
If all that is good and you checked your grid heater, then I would check the injectors. Your injector pump is probably a P7100 mechanical "In line pump" This is a very robust pump and is very common to reach one million miles without trouble. So I don't think you are having a problem with your pump. "But anything is possible" You can upgrade all your injectors for under 600.00 on the 5.9 and get better MPG's and HP.
You have one of the best small Diesels ever made. I have been running them for years in my pickups.
