Anyone know of a good detroit 8v71 mechanic in columbus ohio?
bump
Cory, only people I used there was WW Williams for a fuel pump what happen can you do the repairs or is it major
good luck
I did take it to ww because I am getting fuel in the oil. They would not give me an estimate on cost
They told me I was getting fuel in the oil was their diagnostic. I don't know if they got that from what I told them or if they actually looked at it. I was hoping that they would tell me why I was getting fuel in the oil! They did try to charge me a diagnostic fee , they soon waived it after a brief argument that telling me that I had fuel in the oil was not a diagnostic . Any way long story short they wouldn't even give me a estimate even on worst case
They wouldn't even give you possible causes? Most common issues are a broken or leaking fuel tube, which you can easily check yourself. I would start there, you might get lucky. How much fuel in the oil? and how long has it been run with it in there?
Worst case would be the injector bodies leaking do it your self tap each fuel line with a wrench if they ring like a bell the lines are good if a dull sound that line is bad change it this works only on the non o-ring type lines look for a clean spot if you have the o-ring type lines.
Then check all your riser stands if all else fails the injector body is leaking not many places fuel can enter the oil on a 2 stroke could be a cheap fix or a $$ fix funny how dealers change from place to place ww williams is a great outfit here in the west
good luck
Clifford WW is a pretty good outfit back here to.
I've never had any dealings with the WW there, but an associate had a transmission go out that was under DD warranty from another franchise and the WW up there treated him like gold!
FWIW try Croswell Tours. (I think they closed their Columbus yard, but they have others)
If they don't have a 2 stroke mechanic anymore they can certainly recommend one!
I used to be friends with their mechanic John in Columbus, but lost contact with him after they closed the Columbus shop. He was a good mechanic, an I'm sure he's still working on something somewhere in the Columbus area. Unless he took a transfer to another location with Croswell. (They'd offered and last I heard he declined because he didn't want to relocate the family from where they were.)
