to get a low gear side for camp grounds and granny low gear applications. Thinkin about using the 2:1 gear box off of a NP203 trans case inbtwn tranny and rear end to have a granny side. No intention to split gears driving down the road just basically have it for moving around a site / steep starts. My ole 671 don't put out near the HP or Torque the radical big blocksthat guys put in front of them to crawl.
Lots of custom parts avail in the rock crawling world for those trans cases.
Just pondering

Would you have enough drive shaft length to install it? What about U joint angle? What is the idle torque of the 671? One would alway be running the risk of "goosing it" while creeping and how would the "pickup truck" (light duty) transfer case like it?
Can one find 1600/1710 series u-joint end yokes or companion flanges that will mate up with the 203? Just wondering. Might be cheaper just to buy another starship....er.....or go with an automatic? HB of CJ (old coot) (just wondering)
