Title: Bought one!!!!
Post by: Eric on April 17, 2012, 09:31:40 PM
Well we ventured to look at one bus today and stumbled onto a extremely ugly schoolie.... So ugly the wife deemed it "cute" was a prison transport bus for the state of Texas that some " unique" folk got a hold of! 100 gallons fresh water dual 80 gallon propane tanks!!! Espar heat 6 battery house bank with a 5000 pure sine ( heart something) inverter! And the best part

$2200 :)

1991 Ward Senator
5.9 Cummins w/219k
At545

Top safe speed 75 mph I -80 coming across Ohio pike neared 12mpg too :)

A similar model, since I had never heard of a Ward bus before.  Built on a Navistar chassis, they said.

Glad you found something. That 5000 watt pure sine inverter is worth most of what you paid!

Greetings,

They are a nice bus to drive. Just watch out for tail-swing,
the one I drove on route could turn on a dime.

If you start with ugly you can only make it better. I usually start with good and make it ugly. Its all good though.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Ekhedge!

That 5.7-liter Cummins is a real faithful workhorse. Does it have air brakes and/or air suspension? Ours has neither. (Ford B700, Thomas body, 28-passengers, 5-speed manual tranny.)

Our youth group bus is 21 years old, and does not use a drop of oil. Your fuel mileage is great! Put in some good synthetic oil and it will get even better.

See pictures of our kids from our camping trip last week. I am the official driver, the handsome dude on the far right with the green-white shirt.
