Title: MC-9 Sedan Door Lock Assembly/ Jake Switches
Post by: ojgetaway32 on April 06, 2012, 12:55:14 PM
Greetings all BusNuts:

I am in need of a the Ford style door lock assembly for my 9.  I removed the old one prematurely because I have never had a key for it.  I believe it be jammed as well now.  Either way, I am in need of a new assembly.  Any direction and advice will be appreciated.  It sure would have been nice to lock the door with a key at the Pittsburgh Pirates Home Opener yesterday.

Also, when I rebuilt my 8V71NA, I added Jakes and now need the high idle buffer switch and any other MCI/Detroit specific switching that I am overlooking.  The jakes are there, I have just never used them.  Direction and advice on this will also be appreciated.

Thanks,

Josh Miller

For the door lock assembly check with Luke @ US Coach or Caylor Supply.

For fast idle buffer switch you can get from MCI or Detroit, but it will run you about $750 or so. You can get the regular buffer switch (fast idle will no longer be usable) for about $140 or so I think, from the same places. If you absolutely have to have the fast idle, you might try using the regular buffer switch and installing a King Cruize which has the high idle option, for less money.

I installed Jakes last year but never installed a buffer switch, and my fast idle is still intact. I just make sure I am off the throttle when I apply the jakes...works for me.

Josh, There is a ad on eBay for Jake buffer switch for I think 90 dollars.  No fast idle but the newer improved switch.  Regards John L

Josh, I have several high idle Jake switches but have to dig them out , if you are not in a hurry i will find them next week and get back to you. I have several sets of Jake brakes that I have to go thru and see if they are any good and see how many bridges I have.

Yes, Don, I am very interested.  I put Jakes on the engine when I rebuilt it, just never hooked them up.  I know I need the high idle buffer switch, the throttle switch, the clutch switch, the dash toggle and the obvious wire...Is there anything else I need?
