on the 89 they were safety glass. Fyi they cost more than the windshields.  Razor blade will scrape it off.

Depending how long it's been there, ketone or acetone on a rag will loosen up a lot of it.  Open a window.

If you use a razor blade make sure it is stainless steel. What a glass man told me.

I used razor blades on my 4104 windows that had black paint, a nasty job which leaves a big mess.

Strong solvents will just smear the paint around and make it tougher to scrape and will destroy any plastic or wood finish - not to mention the fumes problem.

I have found that if you keep the glass wet with an atomizer, the scratches from the razor blades will be minimized.  But it also dulls the blades, so replace them often.  Also it helps to use the blades in one direction with some kind of a "system" and not just scrape in all directions. Good luck.

Use a heated blower (hair dryer will work) directly onto the surface until a small area of paint is soft.  A freshly sawn piece of wood with a crisp edge will scrape away the paint without scarring the glass.

I smell trouble. Just a word of caution. Be careful about combining these methods. If you use acetone or other flammable agents, don't forget to read the label and take the precautions seriously. Ventilation, ventilation, ventilation, and eliminate ignition sources. No energized electrical devices, lights, or heat guns nearby.

I had no problems with scratched glass from razor blades, don't know if they were SS but probably were.

Old buses don't need to have any open flames, they are flammable enough as it is!!

The black paint came right off, had to change blades often. No flame, no chemicals - just a lot of elbow grease.

Depending on the type of paint, I have used Windex and a razor blade.  The single edge type.  Spray the windex on and let it sit for a couple of minutes, the paint will come right off.

Rats, I could have used that Windex trick if I had known even though I hate the odor of ammonia!!
