Title: Flxible Bus Conversion on TV
Post by: BusCrazyinFL on March 25, 2012, 07:20:22 PM
Anyone who might be interested and gets the Velocity Channel (owned by Discovery channel), Monday, April 2nd at 9pm they will be airing a show that might be of interest to you. They will be working on a Flxible bus:

"The Outcast crew is presented with their biggest challenge to date, restoring a 1960 Flxible bus for Krispy Kreme. The crew has roughly seventy days to completely revamp this American classicto unveil at the Daytona 500."

Set your DVRs to tape if you are able, or mark your calendars.
Should be an interesting show.

Thanks for that reminder. I seen the previews for that and couldn't remember what channel or date it was on. I always love watching those type of shows. One of my all time favorite is Overhauling with Chip Foose.

FWIW, we used to drive Flexie's at Yosemite National Park way back in 1970.  Wondered then how nice of motor coach one would make.  The ones we had were powered by a big International V6 gas mill with a 5 speed manual tranny.

Be curious how they go about making one into a very nice Bus Conversion.  A rather short T-drive.  What kind of engine will they use?  The driveshaft was very short.  Maybe a nice 6V53TI DD?  Dunno.  HB of CJ (old coot) :)

Jay Leno's mechanic put a 6V92 into his Flxible (then later, with Detroit's help, replaced it with a more powerful 6V92!).   The video clip of them test-driving it is fun.   It had an automatic, maybe a HT740 for the more powerful later engine.
