Beer, wool buffing pads on a cordless drill (park doesn't allow power tools where I'm currently staying) jeweler's rouge, and did I mention beer?
I made my own buffing pads from a piece of leftover wool carpeting. An Ipod with some good tunes and a full charge doesn't hurt, either.

After they are polished all you need to do is wash them once in awhile.

Believe I will pay someone else to do it.

It is a bunch of work getting it polished for the first time. I did mine last spring and it took me two weeks. But Ed is right, just a good cleaning after that seems to do the trick. I got mud and road grime all over mine last summer and a good washing shined it right up. :) well worth the polishing.

Yep, polished stainless does not need protection, it just needs to be looked at.
