Been hating the wasted space above the driver's area. We have our best friends coming to stay with us from Michigan (want to get some warmth down here in Florida) for 11 days. Had nowhere for them to sleep. So we built a full-bed with memory foam mattress above the driver's area. For those who wonder about the safety...when it comes to this kind of stuff, I don't mess around. Using 1760 lb. rated chain and anchors. Front stud is anchored into steel bus frame on both sides. Not messing around. Bubba could sleep up there with his hound dog and wouldn't break it. Anyway, it lifts up to the ceiling and out of the way when not in use (ladder comes off and can toss on bed). Since we have a 9 inch roof raise, there's plenty of headroom when the bed is lifted for my 6 foot frame :) We love it so much up there, we're thinking of sleeping up there! Here's the photos...took me two days to fabricate and build:

Sweet ;D
Scott,
That is awesome. My kids would fight over who sleeps up there.
You just need some rigging motors on a push button ...maybe some moving lights lights under the bed.... A karaoke machine.... ::)

Scott,
Your bus doesn't have ANY windows! ??? You may have noticed. How does that work for ya?
Bill
windows are on the list. definitely getting some when the budget is ready. We need kitchen cabinets before we get the glass. We have to remember that we're in a 40 foot bus with two HUGE windshields, two side glass and really no major walls separating "rooms". The bedroom is dismal when we have the door closed, but the natural light streaming in from the front is more than adequate. But, we LOVE light...so we will be adding windows all over the place.
