Title: Safety Inspection for new bus purchase in FL
Post by: rv_safetyman on March 14, 2012, 12:18:34 PM
Have a friend who just bought a bus in southern FL and will heading home in the next day or two.  He wants to have a quick safety inspection to make sure that nothing major is wrong.

He is a bit north of West Palm Beach and will heading north towards I 10 and then heading west on I 10.

I have told him about John Silver's Central Bus in Lakeland.

Anyone think of another good bus shop.  It has a four stroke, so does not need a two stroke mechanic.

Thanks,

Jim

I tryed to call you cliford a couple weeks ago. New number.
I'm keeping it a secret until I get home.
Well, I guess I blew that .!!!
So what...... Now my New name will be Bubble Butt ??
All I can say right now is..... Bus runs great. Drives great and I'm a happy camper !!!
Man those four strokes really fly....

I am stopping by john silvers tomorrow. I feel it best to have it look at.
I have no concerns with the bus...I just don't want to hurt it in anyway...I flew here and have nothing
Not even a tire gauge.I only want to be safe.jerry Russell really did some awesome work !!!
There is no dought this guy was a master. And the bus was only sitting less than two years.
Long story.... (post later)

So........chilling at a truck stop with a cold one in my Volvo's cup holder.... Waiting for the sun to come up
And really...... Digging my NEW Eagle....10-4

Good deal John you won't go wrong on that deal, no the number is the same just that we been in Scottsdale you have my cell number ? man if Boomer doesn't buy a Crown or 2 from you it will take another farm to park all the buses lol

If Mark doesn't buy the 35 ft Crown I'll buy it and bring it back home to AZ where it belongs lol

good luck

Well, John let the cat out of the bag.  He had asked me not to say anything until he got the bus home.

I found some software that lets you download websites.  I downloaded Jerry Russell's site for John as well as the two photo sites from the Ebay ad.  John and I were concerned that Jerry's website would go away - indeed, we are surprised that his family has kept it going this long after his passing.  John spent a ton of time going over all of the Internet information on this bus.  Then, he and I went over most of the photos so that he could gather more information and a "second opinion".  John is a very detailed person who loves to collect as much information as possible about each of his projects.

The seller of the bus presented lots of photos that detailed the condition of the bus.  When John got there, there were no surprises.

I am anxious to see the bus in person when he gets back to Denver.  As I had noted previously, I had met with Jerry around 2001 to look at his Eagle project.  I really don't remember much about that visit, nor can I find my photos.  I do recall the huge undertaking and the fact that he was doing great work.

That is the only website I know of for Jerry's bus (and beautiful house).  It is also the website I captured for John.

Most of you guys weren't around back then but Jerry had a nice bulletin board also on that site his layout back then was equal or better than the BNO or the BCM of today it was the Cadillac of the bus bulletin boards

Then couple of the guys got into a pissing contest and he shut it down as he promised never to be heard from again he was paying for it out of his pocket and didn't like a lot of bs lot of good info went down the tube when he did that but I never held that against him he told people in advance it would happen

good luck

Well, that's sad news. I had not heard of Jerry's passing.

I never met him, but Jerry was the first guy to offer me space on his server when I wanted to play with HTML and put up a few photos of my new bus project.
Some of you know that I posted a few photos, and wrote a bit of text about my project. I was under his site for a few years, and then got a message from
him saying I was going to have to find a new home for it; I think he was selling his server or closing it down or something. That was about the time I lost my
puppy, and Gumpydog was born.

So, Jerry was one of the first busnuts who reached out to me and helped drag me in! It's a shame I never got to thank him in person.

So long buddy. Maybe in the future I'll get to thank you in person...

Somehow I knew it wouldn't be the last time we heard about this bus.
Congratulations on the purchase, you got a deal of a lifetime.

Got to meet Mr. Breeze in person today and spend some time with him and his new Eagle. Took a few pics, too. Looks like he found a great buy, just needs a little TLC (like all our buses do).  Lots of pluses, and a great engine (Series 60)!!!  Wishing you safe travels back home and hope to see you again soon.  Manny
