Title: I Once Was Lost, But Now I'm Found
Post by: Lin on March 05, 2012, 11:20:50 AM
We have not been taking many trips in the bus, so I like to get out and drive it for 50-60 miles once a month.  What I generally do is, since we live in Joshua Tree, drive up into the park.  Sometimes my wife or a friend comes along for the ride.  Yesterday, I went alone.  I told my wife what I was doing and said, "I'll probably be back in a couple of hours, but it I'm not, it means I decided to stay in the park overnight."  There is no cell coverage in most of the park.  She looked up form her book, acknowledged what I had said and said goodbye.

Well, it was a beautiful day so when I got to Jumbo Rocks, the only campground in the area that could take the bus, I looked around for a spot and found one.  I spent the day and evening enjoying the peace.  About 11 pm, after I had dozed off, I was woken by my wife calling to me from outside the bus.  It turns out that she had missed that "I might stay the night in the park" part of what I said and was in an absolute panic.  There was a missing persons report, the National Park Service had been alerted, the Sheriff's office had opened an investigation, friends had been mobilized from Yuma, AZ up to Santa Cruz, CA., and she along with a local friend had been driving through the National Park looking for the bus.  They must have searched 4 or 5 campgrounds before they found me.

I feel that I missed all the excitement!

In my minds eye, I saw a great big hug and kiss followed by a smack upside the head with a frying pan.

Len, I will have to opt for one of those lightweight pans from the bus.  The heavy home stuff would actually hurt.

As much as I love, respect and trust The Management, I am 100% sure that this would be one of those "ALL YOUR FAULT" situations around my house!

I think that the things you are implying would be more of an issue for the Eagle or Prevost guys.  MC5's guys are just too slow.
