There is a 6 V 92 still in an orion bus for sale on e-bay. item no. 270920167470 The bus is a 1990. I asked him what DDEC series it is, and he asked how does he tell? Hmmm good question, how does someone tell what what this version of a 6 V 92 might be?

Probably by the serial number.
If it doesn't have the ECM on top check the governor they are different from the mechanical a simple way look for the harness going to injectors under the valve covers or pull the valve covers several things are different serial number won't do much good as people are always going from mechanical to DDEC and back on those engines
Looks like a DDEC II from the picture. Ask him to get you the part number from the ECM label - it's the yellow sticker you can see on the picture. A DDEC II ECM will have a part number of 7570050-XXX or 7570049-XXX where the XXX is the software level in the ECM - it could be 141 or 154.

Chuck, 1990 was a transition year from what I can see. Worse yet, is the delay from the time of purchase by Orion to the production date of the bus.
My guess is that it is a DDEC II.
From what I can tell, all DDEC II have a 12 pin ALDL rectangular data port. I think all DDEC III and later engines have a round 6 pin or 9 pin data port.

Thanks everyone, passed the information on to the seller. I need a mechanical silver, which may be hard to find, which is why I am looking before I need one.

Chuck, I would not worry to much about your green block 6v92 just run the thing still plenty of greens 6v92 and 8v92's around still running strong just watch the temp and keep adding oil
good luck
