I need a crossover(?) pipe for a 6V92. This is the one in my Wanderlodge. The turbo mounts directly over the blower & I need the drivers side pipe. I had this crack around the bottom spring flange last year but this time it cracked next to the turbo. I could probably braze it back together but thought I'd check on a new one or good used one first.
Anybody have one they want rid of?
TOM
Tom does yours have the heat expansion bellows it comes from the top of the manifold on a 45 and 90's at top
Here's something on eBay that I think is listed for the wrong engine. Take a look.

Ken mine is the 90 degree one like Clifford described.
TOM
I actually just replaced mine on the passenger side. I had an exhaust shop bend some 3" pipe and then they flared the ends. Worked for me...just a thought...
Tom that is a high dollar pipe (300) lol but for another old guy I will cut you some lack lol PM me your shipping address I have a fairly new one the new style with the mesh expansion and a coated type will out last both of us.
I need to ship Tue if not it will have to wait till next week do you want the clamps too

Now, that's why you won't ever amount to nothin'.... Cause you're too durn NICE!!!!! ;D ;D
My Grandma used to say, "Boy, you gonna end up with nothin' & the seat outta your britches, doing stuff like that!"
I'm not sure I can pay what it's worth to me 'cause right now I've got a bus that is useless without it!! ;D
I'll let you know what happens when it gets here.
I'm going to post a picture of the broken pipe when I change it out. It is broken in a strange way. The crack is not smooth but jagged. I'm sure it must be a stress crack but it's in an odd place. Now that the pipe has separated, the crack is almost 1/2 inch wide.
Thanks!!!
TOM
Here are the pics. For some reason I can't connect both ends at once. The bellows is jammed against the valve cover. The first pic is the original pipe. The next is the bellows against the pipe.
More pics on next post.
TOM
Here are pics of bottom with top clamped & top with bottom clamped.
I may take it down to the muffler shop & have them extend the top pipe. That would solve the problem. I will be glad to get my full shop setup again.
TOM
Get it going Tom ?
good luck
Mostly! :)
I didn't get right back on this like I intended. The weather has been terrible. We're supposed to have light snow & rain here again tomorrow. Also, my church's founding Pastor's wife passed away & we have been pretty occupied with the arrangements. We were friends for over 30 years so it's been tough. :(
Anyway, I finally decided to compare the two pipes closely. It turns out the old pipe was 3/8" longer (higher?) and 3/4" wider than the old pipe. The reason the new pipe flexible portion hits the valve covers is it is lower on the pipe than the flex on the old pipe. You can see it in the pic. I took the new one to a local exhaust shop & had them lengthen & widen it. Now it fits just fine. I have a very slight leak at the turbo but I think the flange is not quit right in that area. I'm going to take it off & check the flange once the weather clears up.
Thanks again for the pipe. I sent you an email.
TOM
Tom , yesterday was told it would pour ! not! just enough rain to keep things messed up so the job i am working on had to stay wrapped up . Sorry to hear about your friend> anything i can do give me a shout............jo
Hey Clifford. Do you happen to have one of these exhaust connectors with the bellows for the 8V92? Mine blew out yesterday.
Tom,
I had to get one last year for my 6V92. Jefferson was the low price at just under $400. I hope Clifford has one for you...
Tom, I would wager that Gene Russell has one up here. Never seen so many dead engines in one place. Spoke to your wife the other day at her workplace. Take care.
Hey John, Was that price for new?
Boomer, I will call Gene tomorrow and see what he has. Karen said you came by. We will try to get over to the shop this weekend. I will call you first.
I'll check Tue yours is a top mounted turbo correct
Tom Hamrick,
That was new price. The year before I was going to replace it & the price was just over $300. Got a couple of flages from Andy & fixed the old one. It lasted a year. When I finally ordered one it went up $100. I figured Jeff went to several rallys that year & needed to recoupe some fuel expenses. ;) I love it when Jeff isn't here to defend himself. ;D Tom, how about the guy who had the 8v92 rebuild in his garage we went to see. Wonder if he has one. I'm glad I got a new one though. It was more stout & I like the flex on it in lieu of the bellows.
Hi Clifford, Yes it is the top mount. It is a 16 " rise and 6" run.
John, Yea I have provided Jeff with a lot of fuel money over the years!!! :'(
Hey guys you can buy the flex or bellows from Diesel/Pro or other places and build your own buying the flanges from Napa,Jeff has those made from a muffler shop in OKC
I buy the flanges for 22 bucks, the 90 bend for 28 bucks the mesh expansion for 53 bucks ( bellow are cheaper) a little welding and 1 ft of straight 2-1/2 in pipe you are there it's not rocket science I'll check but I believe the last ones I bought were from Tube/Flex
FWIW the mesh type looks better JMO they do become stiffer than the bellow type over time from the heat
Thanks Clifford. That sounds like a good idea.
Tom
If you head up to Genes let me know. I will meet you there want to see Boomers coach and visit with Gene.
A day at Genes is like a day in bus heaven.
ned
Hey Ned, I will probably go to Gene's late Thursday afternoon. Get there not long before he closes. Some of us still have to work you know!!! ;D
Tom
Work I don't see how any one has time to work. To much other stuff to do.
Hope to make it up to genes on thursday.
Passed by your place in the snow the other saturday. the trees were pretty all covered in snow.
ned
It would be best if you guys didn't come up for another week or so. Things are really tore up at the moment.
