I want to be convinced that this is not a good way to go. I knew these are out there but I am very sceptical even thou it advertises pure sine wave because of the price.
I am having a problem deciding what to tell folks who bring these to my attention when the repairs on trace and Heart are sometimes very close if not more than the purchase price of this one
There is a 24v 3000w version of the same inverter for 299. I know that an external battery charger will need to be added into the costs but it is still less money all things considered. (Busted knuckle this is possibly what you should try for the tvs you were looking to install you did not need a charger anyway)
I wonder if they have a longevity and reliability level worth the chance.
What would really be nice is to have someone here that is running one.

Costs sure equate easily 100 bucks per 1000 watts. no charger is a non issue we all got 3 or 4 of those lying around already.

I don't trust them. These items are not listed by any testing lab and may not be suitable for RV use, moreover, even if the sine wave is clean, the likelihood that such a physically compact inverter could actually provide 5kW of power is remote -- for one thing, you'd need huge lugs to carry 420 amps of DC power into the unit from minimum 4/0 cables. No specs are given for input or output connections.
Remember, too, that the quoted price does not include duty. I'm not aware what the current customs tariffs are on inverters, but many items carry a duty from 50%-100% the value of the item. Evading duty, BTW, is a federal offense and you, the importer, are liable, not the seller.
Plenty of decent and fairly inexpensive inverters on the market from reputable sellers that are already in the US.
Just my $0.02.

Not that I know much about these (although I know A LOT about "anything that's too good to be true probably is" and "you don't get what you don't pay for"), but the thing that jumped out at me was "don't overload your cigarette lighter for your 12 supply - they're only good for about 120-140 watts". Yeah, you can get 5000/10,000 momentary watts OUT of an inverter that you're feeding 120-140 watts! (When wimmins get understandable, pigs fly, and the gummint makes good use of your tax dollars.)
I just got done outfitting 3 heart inverters with new d/c and a/c leads both. After the cable and terminals and heat shrink and the terminal lugs for d/c and everything all the way to junction boxes for a/c with enough lead to pull it out a foot or so easy still hooked up. That was a bunch for sure but any inverter would need the same so that is a wash.
Remote would be necessary and additional too dint even know if one is available.
So 300 for a 3000w 24v plus another 100 for all the leads another 100 or so for a remote.. Sean thinks duties could be another 200 hundred. Now we are at 700 for a no name brand and no charger or switch gear at all. Yes I believe I have talked myself right out of that.
I think Ive also decided I'm not asking enough the 2 used 2800w 24v Hearts with remotes with a/c and d/c leads 3 ft long I recently restored, put tog eather and up for sale
Might hang on to those a while too.
I was given them for free but A motherboard repair was 275 a remote repair was 100, 100 in leads and end terminals and with shipping and upgrades (all the lead) I have 500 a piece into them and I was figuring that is about what they were worth but now after comparing an alternative I think they are a bit more valuable than that.
Maybe someone will trade me for something ::)
