That should last someone a trip or two!
;D BK ;D
you'd burn that much just getting there to claim it, for pete's sake! :o
pick up the grease, then return the barrels. in Alaska, you'd have to heat the drums before you could pour it in to a tanker.
i think i'll pass on it. ;D

And in the winter in Fairbanks, that'd be a job for sure. You'd think they'd auction the grease in the summer, but I suppose that would be way too easy.
FYI, 30,000lbs is a little over 200 gallons so they're asking $1.34 a gallon. Asking isn't getting as bus sellers know.

That's 150 lbs/gallon..I think there is a mistake in the data?
30,000 pounds is way more than 200 gallons!
;D BK ;D
30,000 lbs is a tanker load lol this is the 3rd time they tried to auction that lot guess it is to far for the french fries group, that is a sealed bid where does the 1.34 a gal come from
good luck
3750 gallons.

3750 gallons.
Yeah that's what I came up with too. But then oil is lighter than waters so really it could be more!
;D BK ;D
I could have my numerals wrong...but here's a scenario that crunches only numbers...not physical effort driving, or filtering etc. Just numbers:
I'm from Michigan. Round trip, driving, it's 7312 miles.
7312 divided by 7.5 mpg average (empty trail on the way up, loaded on the way back) equals 975 gallons of fuel burned to get the stuff. That's $3655 of fuel at $3.75 per gallon. 3750 gallons of potential fuel (veg oil) is valued at $14,062 if indeed you have the filtering/centrifuge setup (I do). So, not including wear and tear on your bod, your truck, and the fact that fuel is more money up there...the math could work out if the oil were free. ;D
Yeah but if your already burning vegie oil and can find some along the way up it brings that price way back down again.
;D BK ;D
And if ya talked real nice to Craig aka Gumpy ya might get him to pull a trailer up behind his motorcycle and bring it back for you! LOL!

true dat. i was thinking i would get some amish folks to help me...wagons...horses...no gas! :)
Ooops, serves me right for attempting math late at night :-)
I have some friends up there, that I told about the auction....Thanks for the find, BK.
Now is that vegatable oil or corn oil. i wouldnt want my bus getting fat.. or some activist group picketing me burning animal oils in walmarts parking lot.... I will pass, thanks anyway.
