If anyone plans on passing through Salt Lake City today I would advise against it for now. Park and wait it out till at least 6:00 pm they are saying.
Last night and continuing through today we are having very high winds. Just north of me they registered 100mph. Here we got around 70-80 mph depending on who you listen to and where exactly you are. My neighbor lost his old growth giant pine, at least 50' tall. It's in the street now with crews trying to cut it up. There are reports of the wind literally lifting the yellow highway lane markers and things like trampolines blown onto freeways.
There are at least 10 semi rollovers, one just happened within the hour. They are stopping all high profile vehicles running I-15 north but the freeways are essentially impassible right now anyway. I-80 is also closed out by Tooele (Great Salt Lake area) from what I'm told.
They have also declared a state of emergency.
We now return you to your regular forum chatter and hey... let's be careful out there!
And only 50000 homes without power.
Oh yeah, forgot that part...ain't me this time soo...
How are you doing up there, did you guys get bad?
Its BLOWWWWIIIINNNNNGGGGGGG here in St. George Too! Not so cold TG.

The front range of CO ain't all the good either, but we don't have the wind.
Kent, every time I see you "classified" as a "newbie" (based on number of posts), I get a big grin on my face. If folks only knew how long you have been at this hobby and the radical modifications you have made to your buses (L10 in the rear of a Crown for example).
Jim
Yeah, I for one would like to see Kent join in more. I also need to get up there some day and meet him in person.

Yeah, I forgot you guys were down there. Are you guys blown away yet? We're still getting some serious gusts. Come 2:00 am it will be 24 hours of wind but it's supposed to die down around 10:00
Some people still on gennies for power and many still out. I think the semi's are all picked up by now and roads open. I know a few people who are without power and some without fences, roofs and a few trees.
I have a large (12'x9') movie screen, aka giant sail, in my back yard for my outdoor movies and miraculously it's still up!! (knock on wood)
I wonder if Dan (Utahclaimjumper) is still with us down there too?
I'm sure Utahclaimjumper will speak for himself however I had coffee with him this morning. Cedar City got up to 12" of snow overnight but we where spared the high winds. Everybody is fine and except for blisters from the old snow shovel we have no other damage.
The wind has died down here. We had wind at my house but no damage. My brother left for Arizona in his Eagle this afternoon I hope the roads are good down south. Kent
We still have wind here, not as bad as today but still gusts. Hurricane Ut lost a lot of fast food signs. We watched the snow get blown off Pine mtn. Very cool. M&C ;D

Kinda brings new meaning to the term "snow blower" huh?
;D BK ;D
On the Sacramento Delta we got a call Wed. from the Coast guard that we had 50 MPH winds heading our way so we pulled in awnings and tied all down. It was 40 up to 65 MPH all day today and should die down they say tomorrow about Noon. No damage except for a few tree limbs but pretty wild out there.
