Ok guys here is the story the kids bought me a new I phone 4 for my upcoming birthday as my thing goes with phones I miss placed it for a couple days, while working on a set of Jakes for Paul I found it in the parts washer here is the kicker they want 800+ to replace the phone.
Is there a cheaper place to buy those phone I need to replace it before the kids come for Christmas and ask how I like my new phone lol not really bus related just asking for help
good luck
You can find them on Ebay. Might want to think about insurance on the next one though. ;) If its the 4S, you will pay top for it, seeing it is a brand new version.
Clifford you can get them on Ebay!
When I need one that's where I get'm.
When mom buys them we end up in another 2 yr contract!
;D BK ;D
Well heck, you know you are always going to have a phone so the 2 yr contract is a moot point.....for me anyways. We only have one carrier here. Anytime I want to upgrade I do it and go with a new 2 yr. Especially if it saves a bunch of money.

Opus even with insurance it usually cost more than getting on off EBAY!
I know if I had to have mine replaced it's be a $250 deductible on a phone that only cost me $450 to begin with (and another 2 yrs stuck @ AT&T)! (I decided that for the $4 a month insurance and $250 deductible it wasn't worth the insurance!)
;D BK ;D
I had a little help destroying this one I think my 4 year grand daughter was behind this lol see you can blame kids for anything,800 bucks seems high to me for a telephone checking Ebay the same phone will be over 800 bucks with shipping
good luck
Clifford, check the CL up my way. Always plenty of gamblers here down on their luck and need bus fare home ;D ;D

Wow, with us its only a $50 deductible I believe. Either way if its the iPhone 4S, he wont get out of it cheaply.
Well in our area we have all the major and minor players in the biz.
But back when we went with AT&T they were the best for coverage and customer service.
Now days the coverage is fair compared to what the others offer, but the customer service sucks!

You want customer service too???? ;)
LOL we keep cross posting! Our deductible used to be only $50 4-5 yrs ago when the phones were only $200-300 but with our new Samsung Infuse 4G Iphones it went up to $250.

For what we pay a month for the 5 phones YES!

I'd clean it up, dry it out, and pretend to be talking to people before I spent a grand on a phone! If you need unlocked to replace a phone (presuming they won't just replace it on a contract) that is top dollar!
Brian
A couple of potential options to look into:
- You may be able to buy out your ETF (early termination fee) on your contract for less than buying an unsubsidized phone to replace it, and then start a new contract (may have to be a different carrier, or under a different name) to get another subsidized iPhone. Still gonna be some bucks tho.
- Sometimes Apple is extraordinarily generous in their warranty replacements, so could be worth taking to a Genius Bar and playing it clueless - 'Help.. it just stopped working!'.
- Keep your eye out for a cheaper one to buy. Like others have said, if it's a 4S, it'll be a long while before cheaper ones can be found. But last year's model, the plain ole 4, has the same form factor and could be found for cheaper (thus potentially being able to fool your kids into thinking it's the same one... just avoid trying to use Siri or other 4S specific features in their presence). At the end of the month, all of us early adopters of the 4 are eligible for a subsidized upgrade to the 4S, so there should be quite a few used ones hitting the market in the coming weeks.
Best wishes!
- Cherie

Heck, the kid has a lot of years to get over it, I'da done the same thing. LOL!
Yeah and just think Clifford in 3-4 months those things will come down to 1/2 or less what they are bringing now.
I just checked ebay and my phone is about 6 months old and it's less than 1/2 what it was and the accessories are too!
Mom bought the "Ballistic" case for mine from AT&T and I was floored that she paid $50 just for a case. I was sure I'd find it on ebay cheaper and back then it was $50 + shipping on ebay. Now it's $24.95 w/free shipping!
;D BK ;D
There may be some insurance if it was purchased with a credit card. Amex will extend factory warranties. I know this is not a warrantee repair but it might be worth a call. ( no pun intended :) )
BK, did yours come with an anti submersion device? ;D
Just askin ;D
V man ;)
I've been researching all last week on the iphone situation and I'm about to take the plunge on two new phones and switch carriers from sprint to verizon.
Well that about takes care of Christmas around here! ;D
Whew, glad you are able to get a replacement. And I thought you were going to blame it on me! ::)

l I found it in the parts washer
Clifford, I'm so glad you did that!!!!
I just shows me I'm not the only one who looses things in odd places. I was using my phone to take some pictures of the inside of a return duct once & somehow left it in the duct. I realized I had lost my phone on the next call but figured it fell out of my pocket under a house somewhere. I got a new phone & was trying to round up all the phone numbers to put in it.
Meanwhile, a few days later, we get a call from the same customer, (the wife) complaining of some kind of weird rattle in the duct work. My partner went on that call. Before he went to check out the problem, the husband complained about how he keeps hearing "this damn ringing" by his chair & his wife thinks he is loosing his mind. While my partner was under the house, the low battery alarm sounded on the phone & ,of course, he found it. I don't think he actually told the customer what the problem was but we didn't charge for the call & they were happy.
The next time I went back there, the husband told me about the ringing & now it has quit & how he thinks the wife is trying to convince people he is crazy so "she can get all the damn money". I told him to stick to his guns. He wasn't any crazier than me.....

Chek this out...best insurance out there, I think.

ebay may have good prices, but you all may also want to check Amazon. They've got a ton of phones to sell, cause i've been putting them in the bins. i hope someone needs a phone because if they don't sell them i may not have my fall "earn enough to stay in Fl money". :D
see you all in Arcadia!
Clifford, here's what you really need.....http://alltopics.com/files/svwsticker/users/1/Motorola-bag-phone.jpg (http://alltopics.com/files/svwsticker/users/1/Motorola-bag-phone.jpg)
Yep Dallas I still have one lol that is the only one I never lost or destroyed besides the mounted type in my pickup hell I dropped a old brick model in the Arkansas River looking at a bridge job onetime
good luck
I still have an old Startac laying around here somewhere. I loved it.... Even in the middle of Nebraska it would pick up a signal from 30 miles away. Too bad they don't even support analog anymore.
I never had an analog only cell phone, but my older digital/analog phones almost never worked when on analog. When I was at home in the Minneapolis area I was always on digital and things worked great. When I was in rural areas and the phone switched to analog I would usually have only one bar and if I could make a call at all it would have too much static to be usable. I thought I was going mis analog when I got my first digital only phone, but that wasn't the case.
Digital works very well in fringe reception areas. I can almost always make a call as long as I have service even with zero bars. There are more and more extremely rural areas that never had cell service that do today with digital. I was shocked that I could get cell service this year in the middle of a dry lake bed with no buildings for miles around. It used to be that cell service ended at least 20 miles up the road.
