Title: Today
Post by: Ed Hackenbruch on November 11, 2011, 04:45:41 AM
Today is veterans day, not only in this country but many others. To the vets to our north, down under, and across the pond. Thank you,... no matter whether you call it veterans day, remembrance day, or armistice day.

Everyday should be veterans day. We get caught up in our everyday life to the point where we need a special day to remember what has been given to us by men and women who gave their service, and some their life. Thank God for everyone who has served, and is currently serving our country.

Have a great day,

Mike

Back where we came from the schools did nothing, and the kids never learn anything about it. Down here, our daughter and her classmates, the whole school was asked to wear red white and blue today in honor of "Armistice" Day. They have had WW2 guys and younger coming in all week, telling stories that make the kids cry. She's the only one of the four who really know what day it is today.

I participated directly in Remembrance day for many years, first by playing in a band at the local ceremony, then by being part of the ceremony on Parliament Hill in Ottawa firing the howitzers in salute.  A couple of years ago we helped my mother in law participate as an honoured veteran in our town's ceremony, she had to sit on the dias and wave at people...

Every day IS Remembrance day for me.  It never leaves me.

Thank you Veterans! Today we marched in one of the largest parades in the country, to say thank you to all of you Vets. Thank you for your service. Because of you, we all sleep safely in our beds at night!

God bless,

John
