Just wondering if any on was going to be at Disney over the Thanksgiving holiday. We check in on Nov 20th and check out Dec 2nd, This will be our longest stay at one time in the bus. I just wish fuel prices would come down but nothing I can do about it but pay the price. Jason
I sure wish I was but I'll be stuck here in the snow and cold. I REALLY hate snow and cold!! >:(
Heather and I will be in AZ for Thanksgiving, but we're returning Nov. 30th to Orlando. It would be fun to see your coach and say hi. Where will you be staying?
Jason
How is the bus running and how did the trans and cooler set up work out??
Sounds like a fun trip -- we have not been on a good long trip in a spell.

Scott
We will be at Fortwilderness campground in Disney, If you get a chance stop in.

The bus is running good, the cooler is working good, I love the auto, this is the first long trip so hope every thing goes good.

Stopping in at ft Wilderness is not that easy. Big park lots of AREAS, can get lost let alone find someone, when you get in or know your site #, Post it, I may even stop in as I have work to do at Ft Wilderness around thanksgiving, have a safe trip Bill
I won't no our site # till we get there, they keep it a secret I don't even know what loop we are in all I do know is it is one for pets. Jason
what does it cost to stay at fort wildernes ? we may go in dec. thanks john
We are inbound to FL right now for the holiday season. We'll be in Altamonte Springs (north of Orlando) next week, then moving out to the coast in Melbourne for a month. So we'll be in the area over that time period - and sticking around for the Arcadia rally.
- Cherie
Hey Cherie, you and Chris will be next door neighbors practically, we should see each other's coaches???
Awesome, Scott & Heather! We just scheduled an 'open bus' for our friends in the area for next Thursday. Love to have you stop on by:

John - Ft. Wilderness is pricey. We looked into staying there in early Jan (as we're considering running in the Disney 1/2 marathon), and it was $89/night.
- Cherie
is that $89 just for camping or do you get in to disney park ? john
We've got members here with lots of Fort Wilderness experience.
Refresh our memories, and set these new folks straight as to the terrific value and experience of a Fort Wilderness stay.
Some have posted before that there's so much to do in the campground, they have no time for the rest of Disney.
happy coaching!

Well it is expensive that's for sure. When we stayed there it was the pits and I vowed never to go back and I live about 45 min from there. No place to walk the dig other than pine needles, no grass for a dog walk, no grass around our coach, just brown mucky water in 3 sides. The One side that had dead trees had a large commercial rodent trap sitting about 10 feet from the back of our bus. Mosquitos everywhere which made it nice too.
The camping fees do not cover any fees to get into Disney. EVERTHING is extra except the ferry ride from the camp to Disney and the bus shuttle to downtown Disney! They pick you up and drop you off for free. The resturants are way over priced too.
We had friends that go there every year. Key word, had! They don't speak to me any longer because I voiced my opinion about how disappointed I was screw going there. Oh well, it is what it is and maybe it has changed but they aren't getting my money to find out.
Oh and if you have any complaint/s take it up with mgmt while you are there. I waited until I got home to make some calls to save my friends any embarrassment and was told mgmt doesn't talk on the phone and I must submit my concerns in writing. I did just that and I received a call back almost immediately. The end result was I got a refund and surprising, the lady on the phone agreed that the loop I was in was in pretty bad condition.
My friend requested this particular loop as it was the only loop for big rigs but after walking around, I found many other loops with big rigs AND even grass.
We made the best of our stay by going to downtown Disney which is fun.
Bring lots of cash or cc's. :)
Yes the $89.00 is just for camping as ACE said, The reason we are staying there is we won't be bringing our toad so the disney shuttle service works for us we don't leave disney. we got our tickets for 10 days for 4 of us with the park hopper and water park pass for around $1650.00. Jason
Hint: Their price varies sometimes day to day. The price you arrive at is what you pay during your stay.. We planned and arrived at $35(which was less than 1/2) and stayed a week. Was at valentines. If you take parking and getting into park early ( 1 hour) plus travel time into consideration it can help offset high price; even at full price. For those who are lucky enough to live in a tropical setting it probably is less attractive. For this lazy snowbird it was a pleasant experience. Bob
Nice place and they didn't charge us extra for the all the bugs 1 time 1 day was enough for us lol
good luck
This is prime time for them, Heck we have had our reservations for 18 months now and its been payed for almost a year also now. Like bob said if your from the north its good to go south and get some warmth, plus the kids are only little once. This will probably be our last time to disney at least for quit a while there is to many other places to see also. Jason
That's what life is about in the end! Family less traffic-and hassle=more quality time. Enjoy today --it is priceless!!!! Bob Judy and Family.
If you are going to do Disney then staying on property is the only way to go. No traffic. No parking. No hassle. Disney is expensive. But staying inside is a great treat, Nobody frowns at you or says a cross word while there. That is also a cost consideration
Jason,
Something we discovered, by accident on the first Disney trip in 19899 (first trip for youngest at five and a half), wasto enter the whichever park early. Leave about lunch time. Lunch in the park can be inexpensive with careful checking. Then a water park for a few hours. Or the pool at the campground. Then back to the coach. Cleanup/rest/supper then pick your evening entertainment and enjoy. That change of pace from rides to water is relaxing. When everybody else is exhausted in the late afternoon your family is rested and ready for the evening. Thunder Mountain is great during the fireworks. No lines.
Bill
I, too will be at Disney during Thanksgiving. Planning to stay with my SIL for a day at one of the parks hotels. My alma mater (University of Dayton) will be playing a pre-season basketball tourney at the ESPN center.
I will get the exact location and get back to you all.
I do not anticipate a problem parking my 35er in the parking lots, just anticipate a long walk.
