Title: Shower Lighting
Post by: Tikvah on November 06, 2011, 12:49:34 PM
Installing shower and ceiling soon.

What are your recommendations on shower lighting?

I envision some kind of water-resistant glass unit flush with the ceiling.  Then I started to consider some kind of rope light around the perimeter, but I don't want it to be cheesy.

Any thing you have that you like or don't like?

Pictures appreciated.

Dave

P.S.   MCI 102-A3 without raised roof.... so it has to stay very tight to the ceiling.  Ceiling height in the shower is a premium.

I'm using led under lexan. the led are 1/4 inch thick . You can buy waterproof. Ck out EBay 12V led lighting. Buy from USA shipper. Have had problems with shippers in China.  160 lumes=about 30 watt light bulb but only pulls .8amp at 12 volt.   Bob

I don't have lights in any showers anywhere, and never have, so why would I put one in the bus?  I just use the bath lighting.  I don't read in the shower anyway, why need a light?   ::)   ;D

I have 4ea Halogen 12v 10watt in my shower. It is very bright and really nice!

Here is a pic of them, there are two more on the front side of the vent that you can't see in the pic.

We have one of those standard double RV type lights in the shower.  It is necessary since, when the door is closed, there really is no good light coming in.  It is not a waterproof fixture though, so I don't spray the ceiling.  At some point when they become a bit more reasonable, we'll replace the single filament automotive bulbs with LED ones.

I used a flush mount stainless boat transom light with a led festoon bulb. One is plenty.

At my age I don't want to see myself in the shower.
