Will a Spicer 8245D transmission from an MC5a with an 8v71 work to replace a 64-54B on an MC2 with a 6v71?
bump?
I have talked with Don F. and Luke, neither of whom would say definitively, but the logic is that both buses are 35 footers so space should not be a concern. Since the Spicer from the 5a was on an 8v71 and the MC2 has a 6v71, torque would not be an issue. It would seem that at most it would need modifications to the linkage and drive shaft. However, it would be good to know for sure before shipping.
Lin, if your concern is whether they will bolt up together, maybe take a piece of paper or lite cardboard and place it on the face of the tranny and lightly tap it with a mallet to make an outline of it and the bolt holes. Cheaper to send than the tranny itself. ;D ;D ;D
Lin, I was talking to a gentleman from Winnipeg named John last week about the same issue. I'm just wondering if it's the same MC 2. ...Cable
I think it is the same guy. We have determined that the reverse, input shaft, housing, and clutch are the same. What else is there to look for?
If the pilot brng., clutch assy., input shaft, throw out arm and brng. etc. will all work and the bell housing bolt patterns all line up. It should work if there is room for it. The shift linkage, clutch linkage, drive shaft and mounts can be altered or fabricated if need be. Sounds like fun for every one...Cable
