Title: What is this?
Post by: Mex-Busnut on October 25, 2011, 05:58:52 PM
Dear Friends,

This is fed from some wires from my alternator. Is this the voltage regulator? If so, I assume the small hole might be a pot for voltage adjust?

Does anybody have an idea, schematic, etc for this?

Thanks in advance!!

Do you need schematics for the innards? The rest you already know.

So you are affirming it is the voltage regulator?

Yes: I would love a schematic of its innards!

Thanks!

Yes to the voltage regulator affirmation. As for a schematic, you could just open it up and look.

It,s a Delco Remy Voltage regulator.
Voltage setting should be close to 27.2 volts.
Inside you will find a printed circuit board.
Three terminals Positive Negative and Field.
The above information is from a MC-9 maintenance manual dated 1-1-89
Hope this helps.

If that regulator is off a 4104 or 4106 then 27 volts is too high

Are any of the 24 volt regulators mechanical?

When I replaced my Delco 50DN with a rebuilt one, I also replaced that huge transistorized regulator with a digital one.  The digital regulator is about the size of a deck of cards and still has an adjustment screw for voltage.  My electrical system still surges up and down voltage wise, but noticeably less. 12v system should be adjusted to 14.1v. 24v double that. Good Luck, TomC
