Finally after a couple of weeks the fuel tank is back in the bus. Turned out the leak was the gasket for the plate on the bottom. The tank is in very sound shape. I had the radiator shop take off the old plate with the gasket and weld another plate on. They then tested it again for leaks and it was good to go. Repainted it and reinstalled it. Total cost was $85 for the testing and repair of the tank. plus two trips to Phoenix, Thanks to all who gave advise on how to pull it out in the first place. Putting it back in was a snap, and yes I did replace the plywood on the bottom.
