Will be heading to the Dallas area from Tulsa on 10/27 for a event at the Verizon center in Grand Prairie. Looking for a nice place to stay until 10/30. Been to Dallas many times but this will be the first in the bus so I have no knowledge of any good campgrounds that will offer a couple days of relaxation. I did look at the website for a place called the Vinyards on lake Grapevine that looked OK. Any recommendations will be appreciated.
I looked at Vinyards on lake Grapevine website and I would agree they do look nice.
If you have kids you might consider this one: http://www.campjellystone.com/camp-resorts-detail.php?campgroundID=95 (http://www.campjellystone.com/camp-resorts-detail.php?campgroundID=95)
We have not stayed at that one, but we have stayed at the one in Waller and it was nice. The kids loved it.
We stayed at Cedar Hill State Park in May. Nice place, on Joe Pool lake, sites are spread out, but not all will fit a bus, and not all have sewer or 50 amp. There are plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. Some good hiking and biking trails in the park. It's quiet during the week and busy during the weekend, so you probably should get a reservation to be able to get a long site for the weekend. Traffic in the area can be brutal, so plan to travel through between 10 and 3 if you can. Probably about the same distance away from the Verizon Center as it it from the Vineyards. The downside is that they charge a $5 per person/per day entrance fee on top of the daily camping fee. Depending on how long you are going to stay, and how may people in the group, it may be worthwhile to purchase an annual Texas State parks pass for $70. It lets you and your guests in for no entrance fees, plus gives you a number of discounted nights camping. Lots of the state parks are bus friendly so you can use it as you travel to and from the DFW area. There are some other options on rvparkreviews.com as well.
