Title: Allison 750
Post by: ccbmster on October 03, 2011, 02:37:27 PM
My mechanic has a completely rebuilt and ready to go Allison 750 sitting in his shop if anyone needs one.  He is located in Orange County CA.

Is it the deep reduction first (which would be a waste for a bus) or the close ratio 5 spd?  Good Luck, TomC

Just upgraded in April to a 750 close ratio (over the venerable 740) and there is a big difference, particularly in the speed range 40-50, where the old 3rd gear ratio was too low and the old 4th gear too high.
Anyone swapping these trannies in an MCI might also want to know that the length of their drive shaft will have to be shortened, but it's still worth the switch IMHO.

I would assume it is the close ratio as he is strictly a full time bus mechanic working mostly on MCI's and Vanhools.
