Title: Jack Frost is around da corner
Post by: pipes on October 01, 2011, 08:44:01 PM
Hello Bus Nuts....I am still here!.........I have an Eagle 05  ( Belgium thing ) I want to drain the OLD anti freeze before  Jack frost gets here...The engine is an 8V71...I Installed a valve
on the bottom of the radiator years ago to fit a garden hose to drain it.

I need to know how many gallons of anti freeze to buy, also the the recommended brand/ type for this engine.... Also going to replace the block heater and add an 110 volt  timer in line of it.

Ken      PS  ........ When I did the anti freeze thing years ago I pored all the juice in, I forgot that
the heater hoses up front were not connected........DUH !

As a point of reference, my PD4501 claims to hold 26 gallons, but I must not have drained it all out. . . .

I'd suggest pre-mixing it or alternating between coolant & water as you refill - then you won't have to worry if you can't get enough water in to make the ratio right.

Buy 14 gallons & take back what you don't use. . . .
