Title: Source for a Duo-Therm a/c-heat pump
Post by: Joe Camper on September 18, 2011, 07:06:31 AM
Looking for a 15000 btu to go on a bus that has 4 others just like it. I can not use another style or type we want to keep all of them the same.

Best price I found so far os 1050 for new. Would  buy a used one if available.

So new or used anybody got a good source?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried Nick Badame from the board here?

There is a company that sells them new on Ebay all the time, but they are more than the price you found.  RV Surplus in Elkhart has pretty good prices on Penguins.  They don't list the heat pump on their web site, but I am sure they can get it from Dometic.  They get the Dometic stuff from the local warehouse.  (www.rvsurplus.net (http://www.rvsurplus.net))

Nick Badame ordered my 15,000btu ducted type Duotherm Penguins that are straight cooling only (no heat) for about $885.00 a piece.  Good Luck, TomC

They are 15000 Penguins that are heat pumps too. They are in the roof of an entertainer conversion on a XLII chassis. They are burried in a finished ceiling and put air into individual bunk berths.

So what would that be? Ducted, right? ???

Shiping is a factor here would be great to find one wholesale local. Freight is 100+ for all the stuff Im finding online

Unfortunately, most local dealers aren't going to buy Penguin heat pumps in enough quantity to get a break on the shipping of a pallet load.  They need to recover the cost of getting the unit to them.  Your best bet being in the Chicago might be to drive on over to Elkhart and pick one up from someone there.  My understanding is Dometic has a warehouse there.  Your gas and time might cost more than $100 though.

I think the PPL Motorhomes price might be for the Dometic Brisk heat pump, not the Penguin.  I don't even see a Dometic Penguin heat pump on the PPL website.

100$ freight is pretty insignificant when you are charging 125$a hr for labor.  are am I confusing you with someone else.  Bob

I need a pair of Duo-Therm Penguin 15,000 as well.  It doesn't matter if it has the heat or not, just looking for a good deal.
