Hello Wayne-

I'm pretty much "bus challenged" when it come to identifying makes/models-

To me a Starliner was a beautiful Ford along the Galaxie/Fairlane lines!

But if you call Crawford's @ 717-527-4555, they may just have what you need.

I don't know if they'll have what you're looking for, but they have acres of the older coaches-
They are very fair priced, easy to deal with, and most honest.
Great people!

Ask for Wayne or Keith and tell them "the Brill guy" gave you the heads-up, and he says "hello" to them-

Cheers-

Sorry I wasn't clear about the type of bus. It's a 1958 Flxible Starliner.

Hey Starliner,
I have a 1948 "Silversides and the "treddle" valve should be about the same as mine. I bought my valve at John Collins Auto parts here in Naples. It is a  readily available item and costs about $80.

Here's a note of caution: The first one I put on a few years ago always felt like I didn't have good brakes, but I knew they were good because they were all new parts and shoes, etc. just not a lot of fast stopping power. This past summer I had replace the old valve with a new one and now the bus will stop on a dime and give you nine cents change. The reason......... The old valve was a 80% valve used by transit companies to keep the driver from snapping the necks on his passengers from stopping too quickly. The new valve is a truck valve for full power stops. I love it. Feel much safer this way.

I have the spec sheet if you would like. You can probably get one at NAPA with the spec sheet. If you want a copy e-mail me at: davesiegeldesignsATgmail.com (take the AT out and use the correct symbol.) I can fax or e-mail what ever you prefer.

Oh yeah, one more thing.......... Brillo.....it was a "Sunliner" not a starliner. The "Sunliner" offered that green see thru plastic front half of a roof. Was only offered on Victoria's and Crown Victoria's.

Sorry  ::)

Wayne -

You can also try Luke at US Coach.  1-888-262-2434 between 9 - 5 M - F.  Excellent reputation, fair prices, ships the same day, and a strong supporter of the busnut community.

HTH. . .

Dave  Starliner and Sunliner was used by Ford   So your both right. :)

Sunliner was first used by Ford in 1953    Starliner was first used in 1960  :)

Thank you for the correction and interesting trivia update. I fell out of the loop by 1960.. I was in the service, married and broke no new cars for 30 years or so.
