Title: Continuing Excellent Adventure.
Post by: JohnVickrey on September 15, 2011, 05:25:00 AM
In a quest for cooler weather I think we may have overdone it a little bit.  It was 36.9 degrees when I got up this morning.   Continuing our quest we are moving closer to Lake Michigan today.  Gonna set up right on the shore for a couple of nites.

John,
SNOW forecast as a possible result of cold air and rain clouds here on Lake Granby in Colorado.  Yesterday, we went to the top of Trail Ridge Road looking for elk.  Instead we found really dense fog, no guardrails, and my co-pilot ready to go back down to clearer roads quick as we could please.  Made a quick hike to Lake Irene where the cold wind blowing about 45 deg on a beautiful lake.

but today is another day.  about 34 right now, and clouded over with rain.

just 10 days til we leave here for warmer roads.  Looking forward to possible visit with you and Lois.

Where on Lake Michigan?

On US2 between Nubinway and Eopfette.  Hog Island State Forrest.   Here with my Brother-in-law.  There are only 3 of us in the campground.

Update:  We have moved to a campground in St. Ignace, MI.  Roughing it with Brother-in-Law in S&S, was not a good idea, I think they almost froze in the S&S.

Movin' on was good.  I had my picture made with Will & Sonny's truck, BJ and the Bear too.  I can die happy now.

Anybody know who Will and Sonny is/are/were??

They were characters in a TV series from the early 70s called "Movin On".

Sonny Pruitt was played by Claude Akins.

Will Chandler was played by Frank Converse.

Truck was a a KW W900.

As a pre-teen watching that show I fell in love with the road.  I give full credit to Sonny Pruitt being the inspiration to become a commercial vehicle driver and ultimately, by chain of events, a bus nut.
I remember watching that show and all I wanted to do was to drive a Kenworth and spend my life on the road..... well, I've never driven a Kenworth, but I've enjoyed many many miles of pavement.
