Title: Buying Fantastic Vents and toilet this week
Post by: Tikvah on September 10, 2011, 10:47:03 AM
I plan to purchase four new Fantastic Vent 6000 this week.  I also plan to be in Elkhart, IN.  I see that I see Camping World has them for $168.99 + free shipping.

Will I do any better anywhere else?  Any ideas where to look?

Also, I want to come home with a nice toilet.  Where do you suggest I go?

Thanks for any advice,
Dave

pay a little extra and get the taller porcelain toilet. The porcelain is much easier to clean, more durable, and the few inches taller make it a lot more comfortable.

I certainly prefer to buy Porcelain, but everything I have found has a porcelain top and plastic bottom.  Is that normal, or is there something better?

I ordered the Fantastic Vents from Camping World, but after they told me to just stop in on Monday and pick them up, they wouldn't honor the price (the sale ended).  I was rather disappointed with their information.  I would have just ordered them on Saturday and taken advantage of the free shipping.  They gave them to me for $189.00 but I have to come back to get them, they don't have them in stock and won't ship (go figure). ???

More toilet information would be helpful.
I'm in Elkhart tonight.

Dave

Make sure not to get confused during the installation.  The toiler goes on the floor, the vent goes on the ceiling.  At least that's the way I remember it.

mine is all porcelain with a plastic lid, and a plastic cover that wraps around the bottom section. Don't think you'll find one without the plastic cover thingy.

Trina is at RV Surplus Salvage in Elkhart, and she's a doll...truly...buy a Dometic Porcelain Tall toilet...plastic shroud on bottom, porcelain bowl up top...super comfy toilet. we bought ours new for $99 from an outfit in Cali...we love it. :)

Be warned that some of the RV surplus places on that list are gone or not really surplus places.  State Line Salvage doesn't really have any RV stuff.  DTI was not really set up for public sales when I stopped there and they just sell parts anyhow.

You'll be lucky to find Factory RV Surplus actually open.  I stopped there a half dozen times on two trips to Elkhart and the place was only open one time.  There was one other RV surplus place that was open one year and converted to a flea market the next year even the sign was still out front.

Of all the stuff I bought in Elkhart I bought the most at RV Surplus, or Trina's as some call it.

I too am looking for a toilet.  What I've found out is that the only all 100% China toilet is the Dometic Concerto.  The model 4300 is a manual flush with handle, the 4400 is an electric switch flush-both are gravity flush.  Dometic also makes a macerator toilet-the Masterflush 8700.  I found it was about $900.00.  But if your toilet and tank don't line up-maybe a good solution.  Good Luck, TomC

If you find a Mircophor electric flushed toilet they are the best on the market a little pricey but are great, for me I don't like any with a peddle JMW and now you are seeing the new house type low water usage toilets in higher end RV's

good luck
