now we just came Thur Hurricane Irene, Not a scratch and the storm passed directly over us, So we leave The eastern shore of VA, yesterday heading to hershey Pa, You see the largest RV show of its kind starts next week and we have to be in early before they block our path to the display area, NOW it it raining, cats, dogs frogs and everything else that gets wet. Finally sloshing Thur that 200 mi we arrived in hershey Pa, and just about to the RV park, Like I said just about!, Now the road is flooded under the by pass before the park, so OK we can see the park from here but as we are told, YOU CANT GET THERE FROM HERE! They were right we finally found away around, and pulled in the park. Did not look too bad at first, the we noticed a small creek running Thur the center of the section we were to be, They said it dose that some times but never gets deep, Now mind you our H model only sets 6 inches off the ground when leveled. They gave us a new site till the storm passes, higher and drier. Great we noticed after checking in and getting parked that the entire back half of the park is flooded about 3ft of water, of course its still raining dogs frogs and everything else, so we ate watched the weather and noticed a severe flood watch for the entire vicinity, from the time we came back out after a break in the weather, the water was now creeping up our way, Don't worry we were told by the local work campers, never gets this high, Well I was born at night but not last night, so we decided to leave, ONLY to find that the main Roads were closed due to flooding, we could not leave, BUT there is a alternative, go up the hill here in the park, which is just above the cloud line its self, So that is where we are tonight and according to the local weather its where we will be for 3 days, Dry camping in a high class park,AS of this writing the store is being flooded the pool is out of site and only roof tops of pavilions are visible, So just in case it gets this high, DO BUSSES FLOAT??????????
If you see a boat come by with an old man at the helm, and lots and lots of animals on it, better hitch a ride.
Sure hope the weather eases up for you.

Bill,
We had something similar happen to us, except it was all at night. We had no idea, until we were ready to try out the boat bus. Rained buckets at night and a real stream went through the CG a ways from us (we didn't even know it was there, when we pulled in, very quiet lazy stream, I think). The next morning we woke up to find feet of water in the park. LOL, now we check for streams at RV parks, when we check in.

Btw, our bus did not float....I think it was just the MCI. Try your Prevo, though. It might. LOL

Bill,
Glad to hear you & Brenda are least parked out of the water. I remember when the Peace River Campground (Arcadia, FL) flooded. The water came up so fast, very few had a chance to move their coaches. Jack
Personally I would stay out of water deep enough to reach the belly pan of the cargo bays. I dont know about the rest, but mine has a lot of electric stuff up in the front by the horns and stuff, and another electrical panel behind the rear wheel. Its a Bus, not a Boat, lol. Maybe if it went off a dock into deep water, might float a few seconds. But that 4 tons of steel boat anchor in its butt is going to pull it down fast.
Bill,
Stay put until water recedes. Hershey/Hummelstown is an island right now. The pizza Hut down by 39/322(the other side of the RR track from you)has water to the roof.
I am on National Guard duty now, and "we" are rescuing people.
If the AACA museum weren't on the other side of the Swatara creek from you, I'd recommend you visit while you are stuck!

Update.. well we are all safe and dry, so far, the high spot we were on was evacuated at 6 am today, the campground is now under 12 ft of water, and we are at the Hershey motor lodge, plugged in to a 20 amp plug at the maintenance building, No campsites that can be accessed, they let us plug and stay free because it has been declared a state of emergency here. Just goes to remind everyone that when converting , have some type of system so you can live for a short term on a 20 amp plug, COFFEE, water, and a great wife. and a dog , all 4 are a must,
When it's all over I'd go back to the park and see if those that told ya"the water never gets that high stayed put until evacuated or if they pulled out behind you! LOL! (an remind them just because it hadn't before, doesn't mean it can't or won't!)
;D BK ;D
