Post by: HighTechRedneck on September 03, 2011, 06:43:19 AM
Choo Choo Express Garage is about to start parting out an Eagle Model 01.

Contact Joel at the number in the listing for details.

Note:  If you are coming to the BCM Choo Choo Bus Rally (http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=20868.0) and would like to pick up rather than have a part shipped, you can pay a deposit to hold the part until the rally.  Again, call Joel to work that out.

Just curious... why is this being parted out?  I am still mostly a lurker, not sure what condition a bus like this has to be in to just part it out.  Why not a rebuild?  It seems like it was in use before a better bus was purchased, so what is the reason for parting it out?  Everything can be fixed one way or another.

The owner of it has had it parked in the storage lot of the shop for 4 years, technically "for sale".  To be honest, the owner really hasn't applied much effort towards selling it, always planning to set up ads and list it in the usual places on line, but just not getting around to it.  Over time the sold the genset and various other elements of the conversion.   But now they are simply tired of paying storage rental on it.

And sitting unused so long like that it has developed some rust issues in the usual places underneath.  The drive train and most of the components are fine.  But some of the tubing structure in a couple areas would need to be replaced.  In this depressed bus market, they decided they can do better parting/scrapping than selling and be done with it.

That is a shame! I've seen that bus in person many times and wondered why they just left it sit, an go to waste!

We have a 4107  that is slipping towards the same fate. We completed a 2.5 year stint full-timing in her in April, and the market being what it is doesn't bode well for the ole girl. It's a shame, but the 871, generator, new tires, interior essentials and scrap value add up to significantly more than the market will bear as rolling stock.

Would it have a good inverter for not too much $$$?

Unfortunately all the useful conversion elements were sold out of it or scavenged by the owner of the bus for their newer bus.  The interior cabinetry and such are being scavenged by Joel for the bus he is doing for himself.

This parting out is essentially that of an Eagle 01 shell.  The drive train, aluminum side panels, suspension parts, brake parts, steering parts, belt drive alternator, marker lights, tail lights, etc.  The aluminum wheels have already been claimed, as has the entry door.
