Post by: baldeaglewy on August 28, 2011, 08:04:31 PM
Rally in the Rockies is over.... :-[

We had a GREAT time... Had a total 35 coaches...Eagles, GM's and Prevost...

Here is the link to the photos. Look closely and you just might see someone you know.

All good things eventually come to their end, looks like you had a great time, and you certainly have documented it all for the memories.

They certainly did a crackerjack job of it no doubt about it.  You forgot one thing, location, location, location.  A lot to do and see in their area of the country, that certainly was a mark on the plus side of the scale for them also.  Where you hold the meet is a factor I am sure.

I wouldn't go to one in Death Valley, for instance.

Location does come into play,I find now all our Eagle rallies pretty well omit the people with children and there are a lot of those folks  some of our rallies start on Tue and end on Friday and they never take famlies with kids into consideration.
I have always taken our grand kids but it is not possible any longer now they are of school age LOL sometimes I took the grandkids  just to be obnoxious as you know I can be because there are a few there that don't like kids

good luck

I sent yo a PM when are you heading this way

Still on our way home.  We drove 1,148 miles in 4 days to get there but we're taking the return trip much easier.  We decided to spend 2 days in Missoula, Montana.  Our travelling partners sideswiped a curb on a high narrow stretch in Yellowstone Park so they're shopping for a tire today and have a new racing stripe down the side of their Prevost.  They got forced over by a nervous road hog going the other way.

Good thing we got our "Desert Mister" working (Thanks Mike!!) we would have over heated for sure on the long grade into Yellowstone with nowhere to pull over.

The rally was awesome.  Probably 1 or 2 on our list of fmemorable rallies.  Met some great bus-folks and made some friends that we'll always keep in touch with.

Tony and Pam did a great job and were gracious hosts, up early every morning and last to bed at night.  We couldn't thank them enough for all the hard work they did for us.

Thanks for all the kind words....Tony and I are mentally drained at the moment...but it was WELL WORTH all the work and efforts. Definitely know that 3 days is NOT enough time for a rally that is in a "destination area". With the pre-rally at our place and then the actual rally...we still had folks telling us that they needed more time to do all the tourist activities.

Clifford...Cody is child friendly...but the problem here was that we could not get a campground to accommodate us earlier in the summer (before the kids had to go back to school). They basically told us "we do not need you, as we are booked with the regular tourist season".

Safe travels to those of you that are heading home.

Pam, not saying you didn't try but it doesn't happen much anymore a rally being child friendly those guys get left out and I feel for those guys a child is something very special to me we watched some of the Eagle owners children grow up one even ran for Governor of Az not that way now.
Jim  and I are about the only ones that have showed up with their kids and grandkids in a long time
.Eddie has just about finished with Bob's bus he is looking forward to rallies Bob looks at Eagle people as family because he has been around us for so long and we look at him as family
Things are changing after years we finally have a rally on the East coast they were left out for years now if we could move on from the Quartzsite thing every year lol
FWIW the people that I have spoken with said you and Tony did a good job

good luck

We are in Albq NM with Jones until the 6th and then head west on Tues the 7th.  Where did you send the PM?  I see nothing in this mailbox, EI or my email address.  If you sent it, I did not get it.  I still need your contact information, by the way, we will have two of our grand-kids with us, I agree with you on the kids thing.

A special thanks to Tony and Pam (and Jack) for such a bang up job. Those comments about Eagle folks is most accurate. We had a great time. the hospitality was unequaled.

Clifford we did talk in the meeting about moving from Q in Jan.  I am all for that, never did see the draw in that dirt hole except cheap but some like it, more power to them.  Would like to see it in different places each year across the sun belt, maybe we could pull more folks in then, but the GM folks have a say now since everyone wants a combined rally to lower the cost, which is a good idea.  FYI we are talking about a rally in Nashville a week or so after Branson, now that's one not to miss.  Hope to get some Easterners that way too. Many, many kudos to Tony and Pam they did a great job.

sorry I missed this one, looks like it was great. I agree about moving the jan ralley out of the Q. Maybe Las vegas one year or Utah. Keep it out of CAL it will cost to much to have it here.

Utah is a great site,, but tough to do in January.>>>Dan  ( I have pulled out of my driveway bound for Q and left behind 14 inches of snow with -15 degree daytime temps)

Places like Albq, NM or Georgetown, TX come to mind, Vegas would be too.  Lots of stuff to do in those places.

Georgetown, TX does have a lot to do in the area. Becky and I have found lots to do to keep us busy. Costs are even lower than Abilene, which was a surprise.

Just as long as it's in a warm place with no snow! ;D

Glad all had a great time in Cody!

Clifford you want it to go east, does that mean you are moving that way also in the near future.

Hey Don,
We know a great place in TN that is for sale that has an awesome project shop & 10 acres of camping space! ;)   ;)  It could be the  "Eagle's Landing" or something like that! (kinda like the Airstreamers have @ Palmeto Cove!)

;D  BK  ;D
