Title: Oops, broke the handle..
Post by: fe2_o3 on August 27, 2011, 08:58:45 AM
I guess I'm stronger than I thought. I reached over to swing the door closed with the lever on the dash and I broke it. Now I gotta find a new one. It's what holds the door closed while we travel. Anyone got an extra or know where to get one? We're in Cheney, Wa. for another couple of weeks. Then we will head home for the first time since the first of June. Been a great trip, sorry to see it end...Cable

Cable -

Define "broke it":  Did the top vertical handle break?  Did the horizontal piece come loose on the shaft?

Anyway, two places come to mind immediately - Luke @ US Coach or Ted at Coach Maintenance.

Luke's in NJ, but w/ Irene bearing down. . . may be awhile.  His number is 1-888-262-2434.

Ted's in Williams, CA, but don't even attempt to contact him before 4 pm, he's a night owl.  I don't have his contact info in front of me, but he's got a website.

FWIW & HTH. . .

;)

RJ.. I broke the end off the horizontal swing arm on the dash. The hand hold is fine. The rest still works, it just cuts our hands and what ever we use to protect our hands. It's also difficult to get enough leverage to close the door when it pops open on the road. I'd rather not loose the wife on the freeway, last time I did laundry, everything came out green...Cable

might try JB weld in the short term.  I've repaired so irreplaceable parts with it.

Bill, i would think that there must be a junker bus or two or else a wrecking yard around Spokane that has an older bus in it. :)

Be careful.  If you lose the wife on the freeway, you might think you are going deaf.

Maybe you had better fix this problem while you are at it.  The door should never "pop" open while you are driving down the road.  Dad's Prevost has an over-center door handle the snaps into the closed position when closed and there is also a small air cylinder which helps close the door tighter.
