Title: My compressor was a mess!
Post by: Mex-Busnut on August 23, 2011, 08:38:40 PM
Dear friends,

My diesel mechanic guy today took off my compressor, I had oil coming out of my air tanks. He said it needed to be totally overhauled or replaced with a rebuilt unit.

Here are the pictures of the inside, for your viewing pleasure.

I would just get a Bendix rebuilt unit, personally.  Your problem may be that your unit may not be accepted as a core.  It sure ate a lot of junk.  That piston top looks like it had some metal inside it for a while, not just dust.

Nice to see the red silicone, I wonder what we ever did without it. Its really great at stopping up the strainer on the oil pickup when the excess comes loose.

Clifford, are you suggesting re-ringing it, just freshen it up??
