Title: Shocks
Post by: wal1809 on August 23, 2011, 03:14:31 PM
While the shop had the tags off they inspected the shocks and said they were worn at the bushings.  I told them to replace them.  This might have soemthing to do with the bounce as well.  I will pick it up tomorrow but i am still in search of a mechanic for the re-index.

Clifford I called Texas Coach worls and they don't do the tags axle indexing.  The only Texas coach I found was in Pipe Creek, Texas near Bandera, texas.  Is that the right one?

Hey Wayne, TCC is in Pipe Creek and that's where my bus is at the present time, talked to Dave earlier. Supposed to pick it up Friday.

Have you checked with Alamo City Truck Service (210-661-9300) FM 1516, Converse Tx. They do all repairs on all kind of buses. That number is for the bus barn. This side of San Antonio at Converse. I talked to a man about my Prevost air. Google Them. I think the fellows man was Tommy but don't hold me to it. I've been out in the sun all day.

That's great! I need to borrow them while we have him add some air bags to our weak drive axle springs next March. ;) Will they still be available then?

I am going to meet Sonny sometime in November Clifford.  If you have a pony express from your way here I would be more than happy to get the scales up to him.

Sonny and I hit it off on the telephone.  We have the same interests and I just liked talking to him.  I told my wife we were going to Pottburro to get the bus worked on.  She says "I am not going for 3 days to Pottburro".  I replied with "OK then I will have to go to the Casino in Oklahoma alone then" ;D.  Funny thing, she changed her mind and wants the bus to get fixed and she wants to go along to make sure it gets done :-*

Dreamscape thank you for the help my man.  Now I owe you 2 adult beverages :D

Oh BTW D and S truck services in Rosenberg, Texas ordered the shocks for me.  I went ahead and got the fronts ordered as well.  I think I am going to save a little money and put them on myself.  I would imagine I need another can of PB blaster penetrating oil.

Clifford?  Would it help if I heated up the splines with a heat gun before I sprayed the penetrating oil on the splines.  I use PB Blaster on shotgun chokes when they get stuck.  A trick we use is to heat the end of the barrel and  the penetrating oil up and then emmerse the barrel into the oil and let it stay there until it cools off.  I have never had a problem with a choke coming right out of the barrel after that.  I have even used a coffee cup warmer and left it set overnight.

No Problem!

Are you getting dual action shocks? They say it makes a huge difference in our flying coaches!

Wayne, the splines very short splines are not as much trouble as the 4 3/4 bolts on each if those haven't been out they are a bitch you have to drill 4 grade 8 bolts out for 5 inches on each side not much fun and they have to come all the way out the tube has slots for all eight.
I need to go to Sonnies before Nov help him out with the adjustment the 1 7/8 wrench gets heavy for us old guys lol,you will never met a better person than Sonnie Gray my wife and I miss Pattie almost as much as Sonnie she was a sweetheart

good luck

I'll third that - I've only met Sonny twice and I'm sure he doesn't remember me - but the love and care he had for his wife coupled with his willingness to help others, with all he has had on his plate, makes him one of those special people I love to "run" into on this journey we call life - If you read this Sonny I hope that all is well for you and that life is as good for you now as you have made for others - FWIW
