Title: ECM Conclusion
Post by: Joe Camper on August 18, 2011, 06:43:44 PM
There were a few who tried to help me with this, thanks.

Have an ECM in a 2002 XLII with a 60 seriesand it had a code that was bad ECM back-up battery.

I decided to go and have it flashed and either fix it or do it in.

I'm in Lansing Michigan and the DD I picked was D&K Truck an employee owned co and been doing business for 65yr. I concider myself very lucky to have picked them from my search.

As I researched this problem the opinions and remedies and suggestions were all over the place. What to do?

I had the tech flash it and the code went away unfortunately it triggered another codethat was not even applicable to the bus but rather a fire engine and the window on his laptop for this was blacked out for this engine serial.

The original code would have come back cause he checked the backup battery voltage and it was in fact low.

Now we have a new ECM but still incomplete. The new box now monitors barometric pressure an upgrade but it needs the sensor for it that this 02 did not come with. That will arrive tomorrow.

So we spent some money but the bus has 588000. All worked out good.

Joe,  I think that if you dig deeper the code that flashed up the first time was for the new barometric sensor.   My engine had to have that upgrade when he reflashed the ECU.

What did they charge you for the new ECU?

Where are your new PICS...

Cheers and good luck!

Joe, I'm interested in your old ECU if you want to sell it.

I'm curious if we can repower it with a new battery.
