My right knee is telling me it time to change to an air throttle on my MC-7. I have a 8v92t with a Allison 750 auto.
My questions for those that have made the change is:
1) which treadle did you use, surface mount or through the floor? (pros and cons of each)
2) where did you purchase the kit?
jeff
This is where I'm going to get mine.
I'm going through the floor to keep it simple. Can't wait! ;)

You can buy everything you need from Williams direct on their online store better prices than Tom has by far www.wmco.com (http://www.wmco.com)
good luck
Good call Clifford. I figured a savings at almost $200! Thanks!
If you want a Stone/Bennett shifter I'll show you how we can get you the new B-89 shifter kit for about 500 bucks less LOL don't get me wrong I like Tom Hall bought a lot of goodies from him in the past but just because I like him doesn't mean I pay a lot more just to buy from him
Tell me more!
Clifford,
Looks like the major price difference is the throttle control. Tom has a complete bolt up assembly, does Williams offer the same set up? Although for the $200 difference I think I could design something that would work.
jeff
Surface mount or through the floor depends on the space you have, some simply don't have enough space under the floor to work - I call this the "black hole".
I don't know about your MC-7, but I had the same problem with my 4104. After 200 miles, I thought my right leg was going to fall off.
I cleaned, adjusted and lubricated the factory throttle linkage from front to back and the difference was incredible.
I have an air throttle on my current motor home but I loved the instant response of the properly adjusted mechanical throttle on the bus. VROOOM, VROOOM.
Len,
I agree, the lag in my 4107 air throttle is a minor nuisance, especially in tight situations. But, of course, the V730 more than makes up for it.
I did the same thing with my 4104 hand throttle and it worked like a charm as a poor mans cruise control.
I rigged another hand throttle to the foot pedal of the 4107 but because of the air throttle it is a pain to adjust.
On our MC-8 (similar to your MC-7), we used the surface mount. Jack
My bus has a surface mount and so does my father's. I don't seem to notice the long lag that everyone talks about, and I have driven a 4106 with the cable throttle for comparison.
The air throttles don't have lag if adjusted right Barn Owl I also try to figure that part out
good luck
I put on a air throttle last year and love it, no lag time here so I must have it adjusted right ;D Thanks again Clifford
So what is the proper air throttle adjustment?
Last time I posted that my surface mount has 1/4" between the pedal and the air cyl arm I got a couple of answers that said that was about right.
Now you're telling me it isn't adjusted right. Does this mean at the pedal or the governor, or both?
Is it is or is it ain't, guys??
It isn't really a problem, just a minor nuisance.
The pedal should have a regulator some where to adjust the air pressure and the control cylinder has a linkage for adjustment, but if the line size is not right and the control cylinder and pedal do not match you will never get it right and knowing Marv Roberts of Sundance no telling what he used
good luck
I'll agree Marv Roberts of Sundance did some weird things on this conversion but the air throttle wasn't one of them.
The PO installed it and it seems to be a good job as far as I can tell, I just don't know exactly how to adjust it and will probably make it worse if I don't know the specs.
Gus when I installed mine I used 1/4" dot line all the way to the to the engine, then I split it right above the engine and made sure the lines were the same lenth. One to the tranny modulator and one to control valve thing , I forget what the name of it is lol, and when I hooked to the governor I just used the hole in my bracket that lined it up as straight as possible. I did install a regulator up front under the floor. That is all i did and I have not had any problems.
The control valve and Dash pot on the Gov. need to be matched. The air line should be 1/4 in. If the air line is too large there will be a lag as it takes to long to build enough pressure in the line to move the Dash pot.
Equal length lines, didn't know that so will have to check it out.
Maybe that is the reason my V730 shifts like a VS2-8!!
